Charlie Higson's The Enemy is the first in a jaw-dropping zombie horror series for teens. Everyone over the age of fourteen has succumbed to a deadly zombie virus and now the kids must keep themselves alive. When the sickness came, every parent, police officer, politician - every adult fell ill. The lucky ones died. The others are crazed, confused and hungry. Only children under fourteen remain, and they're fighting to survive. Now there are rumours of a safe place to hide. And so a gang of children begin their quest across London, where all through the city - down alleyways, in deserted houses, underground - the grown-ups lie in wait. But can they make it there - alive? 'Higson has got the balance of blood and gore just right' Daily Mirror '' Guardian Charlie Higson is the author of the bestselling Young Bond series of novels for young readers, including Silverfin and Double or Die, and the spine-tingling, teen zombie-horror series The Enemy. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intense Grown-ups have never been so terrifying. They lurk in the shadows, biding their time. I prefer the homework enforcing pre-apocolyptic ones better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great This is a book meant for youths and I'm 35 but I challenged my 11 year old to a reading race and this was the book. We both love it! I like the zombie- end of the worth genre anyway but this is a good read in itself regardless of the age it's designed for. Definitely reading the rest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great I love this book! The story is so well written and I love the new take on zombies that Charlie Higson has created. This book allows you to feel for the characters. You fear with them, you laugh with them, you might even cry with them. You also feel like you're apart of the story at times. It's a great read and I recommend it to anyone who likes a good zombie book!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from action packed from pg 1. you will not be able to tear away literally we jump right into the story. no tall tale about beginning before the disease came. literally the reader is thrown into the story as if you were in the middle. no need to go through any starters or details. the fighting and action begins right now at pg 1. i honestly thought i bought 2nd book or something so action packed you will finish it in a day and so much intensity your fingers will not be able to move as fast as your eyes. Higson's is great at getting to the point and building up the nail biting climax (in each chapter). love the characters, good relationships, friendship, fights, gore, blood and survival. BEWARE do not become attached to any character, because everyone in this series is expendable. no favoritism here. the only down side is each main character has their own pov, but he does not separate it by chapters. Higson quickly switches povs of different character within same page and paragraph. i assume so the reader can get a 360 degree point of view. was a bit confusing when my eyes were whipping through the pages, but you get use to it cannot wait for 2nd novel, which i am reading now. EXCELLENT action packed gory filled series.
