Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blank Slate Anne Perry: The Face of a Stranger. This is an interesting and important book, because it is the initial volume of the William Monk series. Monk, the detective of the London police, wakes up after a serious accident, and he cannot recognize his own face in a mirror. He just lost his memory. I don’t know if, after such a serious impairment, he will be able to return to his detecting job, but, who knows what were the rules and regulations in Victorian times? What worries Monk most is the question what was he like before the accident. What is his reputation? He wants to be just and fair, and so he is, and he solves the new crime. By the way he also meets a woman, who will change his life, but for that result we have to wait until almost the end of the series. I know that people who are honest and just cannot be forced to act murderously, even under hypnotic suggestion. So, Monk, probably, shouldn’t have been so worried, but it is a nice touch in the characterization of a new Perry hero.
