Guillermo del Toro, one of Hollywood’s most popular and imaginative storytellers (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) and Hammett Award-winning thriller writer Chuck Hogan (Prince of Thieves) return with The Fall, the second blood-chilling volume in their critically acclaimed, New York Times bestselling Strain Trilogy—the basis for the FX series.

The Fall picks up where The Strain left off—with a vampiric infection spreading like wildfire across America as a small band of heroes struggles to save the dwindling human race from the vampire plague. Horror fiction and dark fantasy fans will be swept up in this epic story that bestselling author Nelson DeMille describes as “Bram Stoker meets Stephen King meets Michael Crichton.”

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exciting Descent to Terror Del Toro and Hogan continue with the groundwork set out in The Strain by showing what happens as society falls apart due to an unknown and intelligent threat. Despite being slightly familiar with the vampires they still induce fear and I felt tension throughout. It was a wonderful read and an excellent middle book for the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful continuation The only reason I wanted this book to end was so I could continue the journey into the third book. The scenes and creatures are described so vividly, you feel as though you are there battling for your humanity along with everyone else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great read. Second book in the trilogy is hard to put down. A must read!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better than the first book I do like some of the different perspectives that the authors used in the book. However, it starts to drag near the end and finishes almost abruptly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from fantastic sequel..... a smashing sequel. probably one of the best second books I have read ever. Everyone knows the disappointment with sequels (always the weakest among trilogies or series). Not The Fall it was action packed, loose ends tied up, a lot of deaths (characters and literally), and new sub plots for 3rd book. I like that this book didn't drag out points from The Strain book 1 to book 3. The best part is that the reader gets to learn more about...<spoiler>....................... world ending, every mass populated city and continent is wiped out well more like infected vampire, a human's loved/ devoted one (basically whoever you love the most when you were a human, as a newly turned vampire you will hunt them down to the ends of the earth to infect them), hierarchy of vampires and their team work, true story about the Ancients and how the Master was created, his actual diabolic plan, the book Occuido Lumen that holds the answers to all Great action, more character development and what will happen next in book 3- The Night Eternal. Cannot wait to get into it tonight. Ok here's the score right now The Master and his unholy dead minions/ followers 2 and the human race 1. The score is based on <spoiler>............................................. The Master and his team successfully infecting the entire human population and making it night forever = 2 points and humans 1 point because they have the book that could potentially be the answers to destroying the Master and returning Earth to light. Happy reading the darkness....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing, thrilling, riveting Just finished reading The Fall which is second in the strain trilogy. We'll written; scary, and only enhanced by the tv series. Of course the book has so much more in the details and characters. Have not been this scared reading a book since I read "IT" in the nineties. Highly recommend.
