I work at Chapters and so took my time finding a cook book that would be good for no nonsense recipes that don't use a tonne of ingredients or time but are still really healthy for you. I am a student and like to cook food that is really good for me and my boyfriend that has lots of flavour but that isn't complicated to make and could be worked into my regular repertoire. This cookbook is exactly what I was looking for! There aren't a lot of obscure ingredients, all of the recipes look really healthy and I really look forward to making some of these amazing recipes! Overall, looks like an amazing cookbook! I managed to find it in my bargain section for $10, so I will be picking up the rest of the copies to give to my friends and family.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Underwhelmed I was excited by the buzz that came with the release of this cookbook and bought it a few months ago (based on Heather's recommendation). I must admit that once I read it, I was disappointed. This is the first time I have ever disagreed with one of Heather?s recommendations! The book is beautifully put together, well written and very nice to look at, but when it came down to pulling out recipes to actually prepare, I had a difficult time finding any that inspired or tempted me. I do fully support the important premise of the book, to get kids involved in meal preparation, getting back to real and basic ingredients and to keep things as healthy (while retaining tastiness) as possible. I think that this book would be more appreciated by households where there is very little cooking, or knowledge of cooking (i.e. those starting from square 1). I have made a handful of the snack and side dishes contained in the book, but found them underwhelming. This book hasn?t moved off of the shelf since the first week I purchased it. Overall, I found the book to be nice to look at, but lacking in recipes that I would actually make for my family (which was surprising given the name), and would not recommend it. The Sweet Potato Chronicles Cookbook is a far superior book, containing a huge amount of realistic meals that all family members regardless of age) are likely to enjoy. Their recipes are also available on their blog, if you want to give some a try before you commit to purchasing their cookbook.

Everything I have tried so far has been creative, colourful and flavourful. I have not been this excited over a cookbook in a long while. Truly inspriational
