Rated 3 out of 5 by from The First....and Last Law Trilogy "The First Law Trilogy" by Joe Abercrombie was, at best, an average reading experience. Characters were poorly developed, the storyline could easily hve been modified to fit into a single book, and language in the trilogy was graphic without subtlety of usage or finesse. Consider one passage where a female character discusses lifting her dress to urinate on her father's grave. I like graphic language as much as anyone, but show some class. This kind of image is so literal that, unfortunately, it reflects something of the author's lack of abiity to write imaginatively and well. The genre would be classifed as fantasy, but it lacks richness or subtlety.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 4.5-5 Really enjoyed this. The author uses second and third level humour that relies on the reader being able to figure it out instead of beating you about the face with it. Not quite addicting but we'll worth the read. Super developed characters

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great trilogy It's a clean and riveting account of warriors and struggle. Unlikely outcomes and intoxicating plot keeps me turning page after page. I have read most fantasy novels-epics, and although I enjoy a heavier influence of magic and mysticism, this trilogy truly delivers a great story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The First Law Trilogy Great new fantasy series by a great new author. The characters are really engaging and complex. Heros and villains both. The series really brings fantasy into the modern age. I look forward to his other books.
