about

After decades of apprenticeship with his father, Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. has penned The Five Levels of Attachment, where he builds on the Toltec principals found in his father?s book, The Four Agreements.
With languge and analogies appropriate for the world we live in today, The Five Levels of Attachment provides readers a guide to understanding the ways in which they are attached to their belief structures, and how this attachment creates suffering in their lives.
Ruiz invites the reader to reclaim their true freedom by consciously detaching from their beliefs, and walking down the levels of attachment from the highest and most detrimental level of attachment, fanaticism, back to the lowest and most harmonious level, the authentic self. Although detachment requires constant awareness, Ruiz?s instruction in The Five Levles of Attachment will hold up a mirror for readers to remember who they really are.
Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr., is a Nagual, or a Toltec Master of Transformation. He is the direct descendant of the Toltecs of the Eagle Night lineage, and is the son of don Miguel Ruiz, Sr., author of The Four Agreements. He lives in Sacramento, California with his wife and two children. Visit him at www.miguelruiz.com

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoyed it! I enjoy the simplistic explanations given for each level of attachment. Once you take a step back and think carefully about the different levels of attachment explained in the book, you can't help but laugh a little at yourself. It now seems so obvious how we perceive ourselves and how we behave based on things we love and associate with that have nothing to do with who we really are. It is also interesting to see and realize how hard it is to dissociate ourselves and detach our sense of self from those things as well, even though we understand it has nothing to do with our person. it's a great book to have to come back to and constantly re-evaluate the importance we attach to things that surround us.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very helpful for self-understanding I'm only about 1-3 through this book but so far have had a lot of "aha" moments. I feel that it has given me a lot of insight into why I do the things I do, and how to make positive changes in my life. I'm looking forward to starting the exercises and reading the rest of the book.
