about

Neve Knightly lives in an ordinary world. Where déjà vu is nothing more than a mind-trick. Where premonitions are dismissed as mere coincidence. Where no one thinks twice about the glitches in their reality.

Neve Knightly is living a lie.

But when her nightmare of a tragedy comes true the very next day, she can no longer seek solace in self-deception. The glossy enamel has been shattered, and she has caught a glimpse of what slithers just beneath the surface.

She now has the opportunity to decipher the enigma that’s been haunting her since childhood. But her quest soon becomes deeply entangled with the last two people she could have ever imagined: the love of her life, Dylan, who mysteriously vanished three years ago, and his estranged best friend, Romer, who seems to be guarding a secret of his own.

Romance, rancor, and redemption plummet as priorities, as their lives become riddled with peculiar happenings lying just outside the realm of science. And in search for salvation, they emerge at the brink of unveiling the best-kept secret in human history.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MINDBLOWN! I have never ever ever read a story like this before! So original, so unique! So much action, so fast-paced! I love Romer so much! Dylan too, but I want Romer. He is like, the PERFECT person! He's so flawed, but honest, and hot-headed, and funny, and real, and gorgeous... Dylan is damaged too, but Romer has a kind of strength that makes my knees weak! I'm totally shipping Neve and Romer. Team Nomer! XD Ok, ok. So this is a story about three people who are different. They are not normal, but not sure what's wrong with them. They're all suffering in their own way, and have no way out because the people they need to support them are keeping them in the dark. Can I just say how much I like Neve? I almost never like the lead of a story, probably because we're always inside their head and they end up getting really whiny, but Neve was so REAL. I feel like she's actually a real person. She never does stupid things just because. Or get herself and other people in danger in the name of love. She's SMART, and not because the story tells you she is. She actually IS. When she escapes a bad situation, you never think well yeah, she's the lead of the story. It makes sense that she escaped because she's smart about it! I love how everyone in the story is connected. You'd never guess it, trust me I tried, but once the truth comes out you're like WOW. The beginning hooked me, but I forgot about it because the rest of the story was just as interesting, and then we get to the same scene as the beginning of the story, and you're like Oh yeaaah, whoa! Is that why!??? Anyways, I could talk about this forever, but I actually can't because I'll be giving everything away. I love this story so much. I love this world and I wish I was a Kinetic. Or a Glitch. I believe maybe one day it's possible. The science in this story could easily be science fact, not science fiction. I love it! I'd say go read it NOW, but the book isn't out yet. The author contacted me and offered me a copy, and I saw the cover and was all YES PLEASE! If you want an ARC, contact her on Goodreads or on her site! I can't wait to buy a physical copy. I need to hold this story in my hands!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! I came across this book on Goodreads and I wanted to read it after looking at some of the reviews. I found out that Nelou Keramati was offering ARCs in exchange for reviews. So happy I was able to get an ARC. First of all, the cover is beautiful! Second, the book is amazing! I haven't read anything like this. It was love at the first page. I was drawn in and couldn’t stop reading until the end. The main characters, Neve Dylan and Romer, were introduced in a rather mysterious and intriguing setting, it was captivating. I was pulled in and I didn’t want to let go. I needed more of them. It was fast-paced and action-packed that had my heart pounding and my mind going ‘OMG! OMG! OMG!’ As I wait for the next book, I’m going to start mentally preparing myself to expect at least one of the main characters to die… :( :( :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoyed it! Reading The Fray Theory: Resonance is like adventurous travelling through time and space itself, like a universal movement inside the heart of the vibrant city of Vancouver. It allowed me to imagine myself an immediate spectator of all the events which took place in this impressive novel. And I definitely know why. As Ridley Scott said once: "The best cinema in the world is the brain, and you know it when you read a good book". That's why I want to Actually, reading this book was an absolute pleasure for me for many reasons. I've never read anything more captivating and intriguing! Everything in this book was so logically designed, it nearly blew my mind. What an incredible and unordinary plot, realistic protagonists I found in this book. But you never know where the reality ends and fantasy begins. To cut the long story short, Nelou managed to construct her debut novel and shape it into astonishing masterpiece, in which all the details and plot lines are wonderfully entwined into one integral unity. In this aspect it is a breakthrough in the field of literature of the young aspiting author. Personally, it expanded my outlook and opened a new world, new reality with those exceptional theories, that it can hardly leave anyone neutral. The Fray Theory: Resonance kept me in suspense with its absorbing, thrilling and breathtaking plot starting from the very first pages till the end of this first part. What this book lacks is not less, but even more terrific and refreshing sequel! Don't be afraid to look deeper into yourself, that much is for sure. Some things wgich I suppose I've pondered over are: Never underestimate the power and significance of your will. The topic of genuine friendship, loyalty have touched my soul deeply. And, life is actually full of unodinary miracles and paranormal phenomena that we, common people don't even expect, but it is all yet to discover, and science gives impetus to such startling discoveries. It seems hard to believe until you are a witness of such facts. There's is a truth grain and you can feel it with author's natural, free-and-easy, but at the same time exquisite and, the great thing, sincere writing style. While reading I have felt an enchanting flow of mind which transforms into expressive idea gradually, unlike anything I've read before. So don't miss a chance to find out a sensational secret this novel hides. Definitely worth reading and from now is one of my favourites!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fascinating Read! The author brings the characters to life with an intriguing story that had me hooked from the start. Nelou Keramati does a great job of expanding on existing norms with the Fray Theory. Though fictional, it had me thinking twice about my dreams, premonitions and déjà vu. Fascinating read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a fantastic story. So different from what you read these days. I got this book last year as an ARC, and the following are my honest opinions. This is a story told from 3 different perspectives: Neve, Romer, and Dylan. Neve is a beautiful neuroscience student who secretly wishes to be an artist. Dylan is her mysterious ex who disappeared a few years back and has now returned. Romer is Dylan's best friend, and they were really tight like brothers, until Dylan vanished. Now, three years later, fate has brought the three together. Or is it fate? This book is brilliant in the way it addresses destiny and free will. The theories (Fray Theory) proposed by philosopher Alexander Galen covers not just that, but also why we dream of things before they happen, what deja vu really is, and many more paranormal incidents. Neve, Dylan and Romer are all peculiar, but each in their own way. Neve thinks of herself as a malfunction magnet, Dylan feels doomed, and Romer is haunted by his past. But what I loved was how these stories feed into one another. It's not one of those stories where we read a section about one character, and then switch perspectives in the next. The stories are intertwined, and richly so. The backstory is really fleshed out, to the point that you'd believe these are real people, but it's not boring or tedious to read. It's actually really interesting. Out of all three, I find Romer the most compelling. He has had it the worst, but somehow managed to pull through without going completely insane. I found his actions justified, even when he was being stubborn. I also love Holt (Neve's a$$ of a professor, he's really hilarious!), and the Reaper (mysterious man in the story that keeps reappearing). I have a feeling he plays a really important role in the story, and we've only seen the tip of the iceberg. After the awesome ending, I'm just dying to know what happens next. There are so many questions that were raised in this story, and I'm thirsty for them to be answered in the next volume. From here, almost anything is possible (as per the theories), and I have a feeling Nelou Keramati will not disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved it. Solid 5/5! Awesome book. 5/5. So I pretty much read this book in a day (even though I wasn’t planning to!) The author sent me a copy of her novel in exchange for an honest review. I’d just started reading City of Bones, so I figured I’d read both at the same time, but before I knew it I was finished The Fray Theory! It just kept on surprising me… I expected a lot of cliches, but honestly, couldn’t find a single one. I was really surprised at the romance. It wasn’t cheesy, and it wasn’t the *my whole world revolves around you* kind of romance. Don’t get me wrong though, the emotions in the book are really really deep! But it’s not corny. The characters didn’t act like stupid children (it wasn’t the kind of juvenile love-story that makes you roll your eyes). There was maturity to all of the relationships, but the characters were all so flawed and really relatable. I kind of can’t believe this is the author’s first book… Ok, so the characters: Romer is probably my favorite. I keep laughing at the things he says/does. He’s been through so much, but he still comes through for his friends (and even people he’s just met). He’s kind of rough around the edges, but you can tell it’s because he’s trying to hide the fact that he’s caring, since he’s been hurt. Onto the BOSS: Marcus Holt: I don’t know if the guy is gonna have a bigger part in the upcoming books, but I really hope he does. He’s honestly the coolest character in the book IMO. And I know we’re supposed to root for Neve (the lead, and she’s cool and all), but I love any time the two have a conversation. Holt always puts her in her place. It’s fun to read :)))) There’s another character in the book, really mysterious, but more on him at the end of my review. The theories: Very well thought. The theories (which I can’t tell you anything about cause it’d be a huge spoiler) are just so damn smart! They explain paranormal events in the universe, but in a scientific way. And the explanations make so much sense that it actually makes you wonder: what if?? Like, what if these theories are the actual reasons behind all the stuff we think aren’t real, but they are!? Very clever, and well-explained. The whole book is smart, very well written but a surprisingly easy read. Also, being a YA novel, I really expected it to be aimed at teens (and girls, mostly). Slow and all about romance, but I was really surprised by all the action. It’s action-PACKED, and really fast-paced. There are so many elements of Sci-fi that I didn’t expect. Really loved the scenes. The way the author describes them, you don’t feel like you’re watching. You can feel it *happening to you*. And the characters’ abilities are just so surprising and creative. I watch a ton of movies (books, comics, anime, manga), but the scenes in the book are actually quite surprising and new. BUT: the best thing about the book IMHO was hands down the ending! I won’t spoil it for you, just read it. And let me just say, I think *that character* is going to be my favorite character of the whole series!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gritty and gripping! It's rare that a novel hooks me from the get-go and draws me in as completely and unapologetically as The Fray Theory: Resonance did! I started reading it with a few pre-conceived notions as to what this novel was going to entail and was completely blown away by just how much more there was to it than I'd first assumed. And once I'd started, I found it very hard to put down! Which is such a great feeling, I love when a book consumes me so utterly that it becomes my whole world just as much as it is the characters. The characters themselves are very well thought out and rounded individuals, and I adore all three of them very much (though I do have a ridiculous soft spot for her boy Romer!). I do love a tortured character- one where they have flaws and a history and aren't perfect in every way- and Nelou is very good at giving us glimpses into each of her characters psyches, letting us have just enough to leave us wanting more, but never in a reader-baiting manner. I absolutely love the concept behind this story too- the fray theory itself. It's a delicious idea and I'm excited to see what'll happen to the trio after this first book. I want to say so much more about them and their journey to the point where book one ends but I really don't want to give anything away and can only implore to you read it for yourself! The only problem I had with this story was that it had to end! ;) And only because I'm not ready to give up this world, or these characters, yet! These past few days, living in Neve's world, angsting over Romer, wanting to hug Dylan... they've been a blessed escape from the 'real world' and I can't wait to meet them again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved It! I really loved this book! It had everything from fast-paced action, excitement and even some romance. I loved the main characters; Neve, Dylan and Romer and even Elliot. With twist and turns at every corner, there were so many surprises that I didn't see coming! I didn't want to put this book down as it had me hooked from the start!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing read! One word to describe this book: WOW! This book is amazing! It practically blew my mind! When I read the chapter zero, or maybe it was the prologue, the first thoughts I have with this book is it has a bad ass heroine. And yes it has! Neve is bad ass but she still doesn’t know it yet. The story is quite amazing. At first, I didn’t quite understand it because I honestly didn’t read the synopsis of the book as I was so excited to actually read the book. And that was my mistake. Like I said, the story is amazing. At first you will think that this is a fantasy kind with powers and other things but if you read further it actually have a scientific explanation! And that’s what blew my mind! Just imagine having the knowledge that you have another you in another dimension. Strange and somehow creepy right? But it’s actually amazing! I never, and I mean never, read any book with this kind of story that is totally mind blowing. I’m not exaggerating or over reacting. The story is really amazing. I’ve read a lot of books before this one, and I meant a lot, with different genres and twists but never have I encountered something like this. It has the right amount of mystery, darkness and questions. But it also has the right amount of thrill. And I say the book is mind blowing because you could actually learn from the story. And when you read the book, you’ll start to question other things. Like, is it really possible to have a glimpse of the other world in the eyes of your proxy? Do you really have proxy? Kudos Ms. Nelou Keramati! Job well done with your first book! I couldn’t wait for the second one! I’m already dying to read the second one because I can’t get enough of the first! I hope I could read the second book sooner but I’ll wait. More power to you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant! Such an original premise! I haven't felt this way about a story since The Matrix, and that's saying something! This book is nothing shy of brilliant. But what's really amazed me is that the characters are even more fleshed out than the mind-bending premise! Meet Neve Knightly: She is beautiful, sweet, smart, and funny. She is studying neuroscience in school, but her heart is not in it. She wants to be an artist (or so she thinks). Then we have the glue that binds all the pieces of the puzzle together, Dylan: He was (is?) the love of Neve's life. They were incredibly close, and what they had was real. But then he ups and vanishes without a trace, and she is absolutely crushed by it. The story picks up three years after this happens, when Dylan resurfaces without warning. At the same time, something peculiar is starting to happen to Neve. Something that's been haunting her since childhood comes full force and results in a tragedy. But a tragedy wrapped in a huge mystery, and Neve just has to understand 'why?' As if her life wasn't complicated enough, a third player is introduced: Romer: I must say, from the moment Romer was introduced, I was drawn to his character. He enters the picture as an attractive love interest, and almost instantly becomes infinitely more than that. See, he's not just thrown into the story to force a love-triangle. He is very deeply involved in the story. In fact, all three characters are all extremely important, like legs of a tripod. If any of them were missing, the whole system would crumble. And that's what I really have to commend the author for because this is not an easy thing to accomplish. You always get a third wheel you just want to go away, but I didn't feel that way about any of them! In fact, I didn't feel like a single character or scene was extra, or drawn out. This brings me to the writing itself. It is smart, but surprisingly easy to read. I didn't feel like it was dumbed down to appeal to the masses, and I really like the sophisticated way the author tells a story. It just adds more credibility to the whole thing. The book is 300 pages, but I zoomed right through it because I was loving it too much. At the same time, I wanted to ration it because I suspected it ending with a huge cliff-hanger, and I would die knowing I have to wait to find out what happens! And I can say this about the ending: thoroughly satisfying, but leaves you desperate for more. The interesting thing is that the book starts out with a HUGE bang and instantly grabs your attention. And then it starts to build up, more and more, and ends on an amazing (seriously, WOW) scene, which sets the stage perfectly for the next book. And as you read, you keep thinking 'it can't get any better than this, can it?' Oh yes. Oh yes it very much can, and does! I don't even know what to expect of the next book when this one already has some of my all-time favorite things in the realm of paranormal. I can say this is probably one of my favorite books of all time. Definitely within my top 10. I received a review copy of this book from the author for an honest review, and honestly, I wish I could give it more stars than 5, but alas, this review will have to do.
