New York Times Bestselling Author Shelley Shepard Gray gifts us with a special Christmas story about love and blessings in this next book in her Amish of Hart County series.

The Schwartz family is happy to be spending Christmas on their new farm in Hart County. But when Susanna Schwartz hears gunshots that causes her buggy to overturn, and then her little sister falls through a wooden bridge into the icy creek, it becomes clear from these dangerous “accidents” that someone wants them gone.

Neil Vance has been heartbroken ever since his parents lost their family farm. He knows it’s not the Schwartz family’s fault, but he can’t help but be resentful. Until he meets Susanna. She is kind-hearted and bold, and Neil can’t stop thinking about her pretty green eyes.

Neil thinks the accidents are just that, but Susanna’s father is convinced the Vance family is responsible. Susanna refuses to believe Neil would do anything to harm her. She’s fallen in love with him and knows he is a good man. But her family is ready to pack up and move, and time is running out to uncover the truth before someone gets hurt…or worse.

Shelly Shepard Gray is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, a finalist for the American Christian Fiction Writers prestigious Carol Award, and a two-time Hold Medallion winner. She lives in Loveland, Ohio, where she writes full-time, bakes too much, and can often be found walking her dachshunds on her town’s bike trail.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for putting you in the Christmas spirit Romance, mystery, and a Christmastime theme combine to make a heart-warming and enjoyable read in Shelley Shepard Gray's latest novel, "The Gift", the third in "The Amish of Hart County" series. As a reader who enjoys suspense, I appreciate that the action starts from the first page of the story and doesn't let up from there! While readers may soon guess at who is behind the "accidents" the Schwartz family is encountering, the tale on how they discover the truth makes for an absorbing read, especially for those who love an Amish novel. I was soon swept up into the drama, along with the sweet romance brewing between Susanna and Neil in particular, a romance that takes some twists and turns indeed! Although I have read the prior two books in the series, "The Gift" can be enjoyed on it's own without having read the previous novels. As such, it is sure to appeal to all and will no doubt please Gray's growing fan base with the likeable characters, engaging plot, and a conclusion that will leave a smile on your face. Really, what more can you ask for? I found "The Gift" to be just what I was looking for in getting me into the Christmas spirit. While love and forgiveness are needed year round, there is no better time for remembering how the gift of Jesus calls us to in turn extend his love to others. Shelley Shepard Gray has offered up another solid addition to "The Amish of Hart County" series, and I award this book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Here's hoping that the author has more in store for the people of Hart County! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amish + Suspense + Christmas = a dream of a read Reading a Shelley Shepard Gray book is like a glorious homecoming. There's comfort and familiarity paired with the unexpected of a new story. The thrill of discovery spikes my anticipation and once I start reading I can't stop until I reach the end. Which is exactly what happened with The Gift. Consumed in one sitting followed by the letdown of having finished far too soon. The suspense is subtle -- a series of unexpected accidents that no one wants to take seriously except for Susanna and her sisters. And they are already adjusting to a difficult transition to their new home in Hart County. Unearthing the reason behind the surprising hostility the Amish community harbors against them is just the beginning of the mystery. Neil and Susanna's friendship gets off to a rocky start. It's Neil who has to dig deep and reflect on the emotions that fuel his anger and ultimately his behavior. It's a powerful awakening that brings depth to the story. There's also a surprise (and very sweet) secondary romance All woven into a suspenseful plot that kept me turning pages. Amish + Suspense + Christmas = a dream of a read! My thanks to Avon Inspired and Litfuse Publicity Group for providing me with a copy of this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accidents The author has created a page tuner here, and I couldn’t put it down, quickly became involved and wondered who was doing the evil acts. Yes, I guessed and guessed wrong, but you will be doing the same with this non-stop action in Amish country, and first impressions are not always right! I loved being back in Hart County and being updated on past friends, and love has survived! This is a new group, but they are now part of the family, and this story is going to linger with you for a long time. Be ready for you heart in your throat right from the first few pages, shots being fired at you as you drive your buggy down the road, and then right to the end with your falling into a cave, will all survive? You don’t want to miss this one, Amish and adventure, family and love of God, so many accidents, or are they? I received this book through Litfuse Publicity Blog Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.
