Readers will be touched and inspired by this latest novel from bestselling author Lurlene McDaniel:

Beth's world has been torn apart.  She cannot figure out how to go on when a car accident claims the lives of her entire family, and she is the only survivor.  Things seem to get even worse when she moves in with her aunt and her spoiled cousin, Terri.  But with the love and support of her aunt and some unexpected friends, Beth struggles to overcome the despair that threatens to consume her.  Will she be able to move past the painful memories without feeling guilty for being a survivor?
Lurlene McDaniel began writing inspirational novels about teenagers facing life-altering situations when her son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes.  Her work has received generous praise from parents, teachers, reviewers, and most importantly, her readers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How true it is This book was the second book i ever read by Lurlene McDaniel the first was "telling christia goodbye" and just like the fist one i cryed start to finish. These books touch you in away other books never will. Lurlene write about tragedys because there really and even though their the most sadest books in the world it just goes to show your life or someone you knows life can change in an instant. I love the fact that she writes these books and even because they are so sad it just makes you realise that this is someones life. This book deffinitly opened my eyes and it made me start treating my parents better because you never know what will happen when they walk out the door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do we all love our family as much as Beth? Lurlene McDaniel is my favourite author because she talks about problems that really move your heart. After a tear filled hour of reading The girl death left behind I asked myself a question: why doesn't everyone love their family as much as Beth? I hope that after reading this excellent book, that will change. I really recommend this novel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from like, omg man the cover on my copy of this book is completly worn. i can't even begin to explain how good it is. i've read all of lurlene's books, and this one was by far the best. in some of her books, you don't start crying until the end, but with this one, once you're a few chapters in, you're bawling, and groping for some kleenex!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible and Magnificent This isn't the first Lurlene McDaniel book that i've read so I expected to use some tissues at one point or another. But this book just captivated me. It was sweetly wonderful and heartrenching all at the same time. I was practicly crying the whole time. I've read this book three times. It's a good reminder that family is everything and even though you might dismiss them now, later when they're gone and you can't get them back, you'll hurt and you'll regret. This book hit close to home. Nothing like this has ever happened to me but, I've been raised with family as my priority and I'm very close knit with them. I'd suggest this book to everyone! Though I warn you should keep some tissues handy! It's a seriouse must read! I wish she would come out with a sequal, I want to find out more about what happens with Beth!

Read from the Book

Beth held her aunt's hand, and Faye went with them. The walk down the hall seemed endless. Once they were inside the small cubicle, Dr. Higdon said, "Please sit down.""I don't want to sit," Beth said. She was angry at the doctor who'd kept her waiting so long."How are my sister and brother-in-law?" her aunt asked. "And their two children. Beth said they were in the accident too.""Yes," the doctor said. "An ambulance brought in all four of them.""I--I stayed home," Beth explained, although no one had asked her why she hadn't been in the van. "I had the flu.""According to the police," the doctor said, "the van swerved from road and careened down a hill, rolled over, and smashed into a tree. The impact was severe. The Jaws of Life had to be used to open the car and extract the passengers."Beth shuddered. "B-But they're all right, aren't they? You fixed them up, didn't you?"

From Our Editors
