The USA Today bestseller

Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her "our little genius."

Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh.

The Girl With All the Gifts is a groundbreaking thriller, emotionally charged and gripping from beginning to end.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kept me turning the pages This was an interesting look at a dystopian world where you see different reactions to a disastrous "infection". Each of the main characters reacts differently, but they must collaborate to save themselves, so their interactions add to the survival story. I got through it pretty quickly as I wanted to know what happened, but I found the end a bit disappointing. I still give it 4 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A story unlike any other This is a story about relationship and rebirth- primarily between a teacher and her student. It is also a story that defines exactly what qualities define a human experience. On a more spiritual level, it is a story of what comes next - how we let go and how we evolve. It is a trip into the heart of a monster; of our worst fears, of being overcome and invaded by that which we are ignorant. There is much to learn here and much to fear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great read Well written. On the edge of your seat entertainment but not too Hollywood. Just the right length. Highly recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It has its moments. It starts out strong, then I found it to be mostly slow with strong points littered throughout. I was mostly satisfied with the ending, but then once I realized I was done reading the book, I felt a sense of relief that I wouldn't have to read it anymore. I will not think about this book again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crawling spiders It took a while before I realized what was going on in the camp, but when I did ,I had spiders crawling up and down my back. They made an appearance again in the final chapter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't put it down I really enjoyed the story. It was very original and I did not see the end coming. I couldn't put it down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Starts With a Bang! I was attracted to this book because of what seemed to be a literary treatment of a paranormal subject matter (don't want to give it away), and that's exactly what I got. The book starts with a bang, and I read the first 5 chapters in one sitting. I find it meandered a little in the middle, but it had a very clever ending!
