Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantasy Considering my lack of praise for the other First Law World books that I've read, why would I read another one? Well, I'm at a point in my fantasy reading where most new authors/series I've been trying haven't succeeded in keeping my attention. So I decided to read a known commodity, even if that meant reading a mediocre book. Luckily, The Heroes was the first really good Abercrombie book that I've read. I loved the way it covered one battle for 5 days in one location. Sometime I feel that big battles can be cumbersome to read about, but Abercrombie does a good job at moving the POV through the battle to show the reader 'the good stuff'. You never get bogged down in tactics. The evolving maps throughout the novel also help immensely in picturing the battle. Like when I read Sharp Ends, I felt I was doing a lot of catch up because I haven't read the First Law trilogy. But after reading the wiki I'm really looking forward to reading Red Country and the next trilogy.
