Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I remembered! I absolutely love this edition, the covers are beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. I would recommend these books to anyone who like fantasy/adventure. They were written quite a while ago though, so the writing is a different style that what you find out there today. LOTR can be a bit tedious to get through at points, but it is worth it. I haven't read them in years, and although I'm not through them yet, they're better than I remember!

About the Author

J.R.R.Tolkien (1892-1973) was a distinguished academic, though he is best known for writing The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion and The Children of Hurin, plus other stories and essays. His books have been translated into over 50 languages and have sold many millions of copies worldwide.

From Our Editors

When J. R. R. Tolkien was writing The Hobbit in the 1930s, the world of fiction was fairly planar. Unsuspectingly enough, he came along and transformed writing by setting the standard for a genre that today is as prominent as mystery and romance. The The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings Gift Set is an elegant collection of his most profound works of fantasy and science fiction. Together, the four books showcase Tolkien's ability to create worlds entirely foreign and believable. With a cast of mystical characters and heroic missions, they are the cornerstone of a imaginative and compelling literary saga.
