Another fantastic read by Liane Moriarty ... I can't help but mimic the sentiment of many of the other reviews below - this book was next to impossible to put down! I love how Moriarty's stories always take an unexpected turn - rather than follow other very predictable chick-lit story-lines.

The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
This author has the snappy inner dialogue thing down! She is witty, witty, witty! I was mesmerized with the first few chapters, kept greedily turning the pages. But then I realized that things were getting shallower and shallower instead of deeper and deeper. It was like walking into a pool expecting to swim once you hit the deep end and discovering that you're wading in the kiddie pond. All of a sudden, it was clear that I didn't genuinely like any of the characters and that everyone

Loved this book.
I loved this book. It's not meant to be great literature but is such a fun, chatty, real kind of book that i was totally engaged from start to finish? If you've been to Sydney, Australia, you'll recognize some of the characters and places that she describes. If not, you'll want to go just to see if it's really so. Lianne Moriarty has replaced Sophie Kinsella as my go-to read for escapist, relaxing fiction. Moriarty's books always have a surprise or a twist in them that keeps me on my toes and this was one of her best. I enjoyed them all although "Truly, Madly, Guilty" was a bit of a disappointment.

Disappointing, predictable
I wanted to like it. I'd waited to read it for a long time and was excited to finally have it. Then I opened it. From the very beginning, I felt confused and overwhelmed with information. I'm all for alternating viewpoints but when the author switches to new characters at every chapter, it become very hard to patient. At the same time, the characters seemed excessively "chatty, in their heads", probably with some undiagnosed form of ADHD. They would jump from topic to topic before ever getting to the point. I vowed that I would give it to chapter 15 before giving up. Right at the end of chapter 15, the husband's secret was revealed...but hadn't we all already guessed this secret? It wasn't a big surprise to me. From there I skimmed. I really wasn't invested in any of the characters enough to find out what happened to them. They were all pretty one-dimensional and predictable. Towards the end, I felt like I was reading a Picoult-wannabe that failed. I actually found the epilogue to be the most enjoyable part of the book. I have a couple more of Lianne Moriarty's books but I am hesitant to invest any more time or energy into reading her. I'm going to pay close attention to their reviews and then decide whether to give them a try or trade them in to the local used bookstore. It is very disappointing to hate a book with so many raving, 5 star reviews.

It's a decent book, but nothing overly impressive. I guess the word 'secret' raised my expectations a little too much. While I wouldn't go ahead and recommend it to every one of my friends, I think it's a pretty good book for book club discussions. Most of the characters think and act in ways that one could find either relatable or debatable. I am not charmed, but I definitely don't regret reading it.

I read this entire book on my flight to and from Vancouver last summer. I was so hooked that the flight attendants went unnoticed when they were offering complimentary coffee and snacks. I got so mad at the ending that I threw my book on the seat and complained how the secret was completely unexpected and that one woman took back the husband. Every so often on the plane, I said to my mom, shit just got serious! My mom finally concluded that this must be some whore book and starts laughing lol. Easy read and a real page turner ! Only downside is that there is so many characters that you really have to remind yourself of who the characters are.

This is a winner
This is the first book of Liane Moriarty's that I have read and it definitely won't be the last. In fact I went and bought them all, either in print or ebook form. I loved this book!
They say curiosity killed the cat. The problem with curiosity is that once you have given into that urge you cannot unlearn what you have discovered as Cecilia discovered when she read that letter from her husband "to be opened after my death". Firstly I have to admit, I totally would have also read the letter and I have to admit, I was in total shock at what was revealed in that letter, I can't even imagine what Cecilia felt.
There's a little jumping around initially where we find ourselves involved in the lives of not just Cecilia, but Rachel and Tess and their families and all the drama that goes with that. Initially they seemed like three separate lives/stories until there was interaction and it then became more like one story and I became totally engrossed in the lives of these three women.
There were many shocks and surprises in this novel, some pretty twisted karma. And then you read the epilogue, which is kind of twisted in itself, all those happenings of fate and what could have or should have been.
I'm not sure which book of this author's I will read next but I look forward to losing myself in another of her stories.

Great Read!
The Husband’s Secret is the perfect summer book! It is a compelling, fast paced thriller told in alternating voices, of three women who are all leading different lives. Cecilia is the perfect wife, Tess whose life is shattered when her husband tells her he is in love with her cousin and an elder woman named Rachel whose daughter Janie was murdered in an unsolved case in 1984, she has not been able to get over this. Rachel has not been able to move on with her life. All three women are living very different lives.
One day Cecilia is cleaning the attic and stumbles across a letter from her husband which is written by him but to be opened on the event of his death, she is taken aback what could this be, John Paul (her husband) is away on business and she confronts him about it on the telephone and he tells her not to open it.
Cecilia runs a successful Tupperware business and has a Tupperware party that night where she runs into Rachel and tells her a story she had about Janie, as she read somewhere parents of dead children love to hear memories of their children as they will never have any new ones. Cecilia decides that night when her children are asleep to open the letter; it is up to her to protect her family. John Paul is home quite a few days early from his trip (right after the phone call he rushed home) and asks Cecilia about the note, she finds this odd and she knows she must open it now. She opens it up and what is inside shatters her world, her husband John Paul killed Janie, and the only reason John Paul married Cecilia was because he thought she was good and because of this he would somehow be forgiven for the great injustice he committed all those years ago.
All the while Tess is trying to figure out what her life is now that her husband wants to be with her cousin. The suspense continues.....As the day’s progress you learn more about Janie’s murder, from a narrator’s perspective who is like all knowing God.
Due to the news that John Paul murdered Janie, Cecilia starts to fall apart. The book as the title suggests is all about lies and that tangled web they come with.

Very captivating read
I very much enjoyed this book and can even see it turned into a movie one day. At first I thought it would be difficult to remember all the different characters but after a few chapters I had it figured out and I was so captivated by the 3 different stories that I couldn't put it down because I wanted to know more!

Bravo!
This is a must-read. From the moment I started reading, I couldn't put it down. The author did a fantastic job keeping us glued to the storyline as she weaved the lives of 3 families together, all connected by one common tragedy. Absolutely fantastic!

Great Read
A perfect blend of escapism and suspense. Realistic characters that are easy to root for and hate. Great epilogue.

Liane Moriarty
My second book by this author. Excellent character development. Baded in Australia, but these characters could be my neighbors. Loved it.

no more than a sitcom!
I picked up the book's title from NY Bestselling list.
Three women--three stories. I have read till 21% but could not carry it more. There are too many characters to remember each time you open the book. It's hard to remember who has what issues. One woman's husband cheating on her, other one has a secret letter, the third one is a grandmother who is going to live without her grand child. I don't even remember their names. Each woman has multiple kids PLUS neighbors PLUS people they meet when they go out and up till now it has not kept me hooked. I usually finish every book I start but this one did not hook me.
To me, it felt like a sitcom -- women crying over petty issues.

don't bother
A train wreck of a novel that is supposed to reveal the worst case of human frailty fails to hit its mark. Instead you are left with just a bad taste in your mouth because the author has jerked you around so much you are embarrassed you ever picked this up.

First time Reader
This book was a recommendation from Kobo. As such, I really wasn't sure what to expect. Turns out it was a great read with some creative twists and turns to keep me turning the pages. Will definitely choose another of her novels for my library and watch for new books by Ms. Moriarty!

Interwoven characters
A story of three families and a rogue singleton, whose past, present and future overlap, collide and implode. A tale of love, family, tragedy and loss. Where people are forced to see themselves as they are, and wish to be.

Disappointing
I was encouraged to read this book by a friend who raved about it. I was not impressed with the writing at all. Good story but the characters lacked any depth. They were like cardboard cut-outs. Even in the last few chapters I didn't really relate to which housewife I was reading about. Pity, as the story had so many great opportunities for the reader to be completely engrossed in the intrigue but I found I didn't really care about the characters at all. Too bad.

Unexpected
The great "reveal" from the mysterious letter summarized on the jacket of the book was unexpected. I enjoyed all of the characters. I especially enjoyed how the author apportioned blame, at least notionally, even to those who might otherwise seem like the victim. It made me think, but it didn't "decide" any of the issues for me.
I found I kept wanting to read more to see which turns the characters took next. The three parallel storylines interwined nicely, and the ending was satisfying. A recommended read.

Truly wonderful!
This book caught my eye while I was walking in the book store and I am so thrilled to have read it. The author does an extraordinary job of making you fall in love with the characters; I could not put the book down! This book will make you question whether there is a ''big picture'' in this world and how actions truly affect others. If you enjoy a book that keeps you guessing but that is still considered light reading, I highly recommend this book! You will not regret it, it is amazing!

Don't read this book if you want to eat or sleep for the next couple of days!
I received an Indigo gift card for Christmas and after reading about this book on a online book club (A Bow Full of Lemons). I decided to purchase it on Boxing Day. It arrived on Jan 7 and I read it in less than 24 hours. I couldn't put it down! I loved the authour's use of metaphors/similies and how the stories all inter-related. I kept hoping the ending wouldn't dissapoint, and it didn't! This is the best book I have read in a very long time. You MUST read it too!
