An all-new, mesmerizing series from the masterful, #1 New York Times bestselling author Gordon Korman

Is it a gift . . . or is it a curse? Jax Opus can use his colour-changing eyes to make people do things they don't want to do. (Only his colour-blind best friend, Tommy, seems immune.) At first, Jax doesn't know what he's doing - temporarily hypnotizing friends, foes, and strangers. But then his power pushes things way too far, and his secret isn't a secret any longer.

Soon Jax finds himself meeting Dr. Elias Mako, who wants him to join a special institute that will teach him how to use his powers. But what will his powers be used for? That's the big question for Jax as his hypnotic abilities draw him into a conspiracy that will have him racing against time and a mysterious mastermind to save his best friend, his parents, and the entire country.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Gordon Korman comes a fast, fun, and fantastic adventure about a kid who can make other people do what he wants - and who's wanted big-time because of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The hypnotists: an opinion The book was really great! i liked the geneal story and the funny characters. I wish the ending was a bit more satisfing but that may just be how they are going to sell the next book. Also, the story did not seem to have one goal for the ending because it seemed to change throughout the book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This book would be great on my top reads book shelf. Gordon Korman will have you under his control with his newest book The Hypnotists. Known for his past series, The Island, Everest and the Titanic Trilogy, Korman breaks from his usual reality fiction with a new series featuring a teenager named Jax who discovers he has the special power of hypnosis. Set in a special school for hypnosis, the book follows Jax as he struggles to deal with his new found powers while a mystery of national importance begins to unravel. I liked this book because it took a normal kid and gave him an extraordinary gift. It jumps straight into the reader learning about Jax’s power and keeps you wanting more so you won’t be able to put the book down at night. It also left me wishing that I had his powers. I like how it breaks from the popular theme of vampires, spies, and magic and ventures into a new theme of hypnosis creating a fresh book for readers to enjoy. This book is great for people that love books with a twist ending to the plot. This book would be great on my top reads book shelf.
