Kent: to hold for her life: the interest and estate whereof the said Robert Alleyn and Joan now have. King Henry VIII. by Letters Patent dated 8 April in the 35th year of his reign 1544 granted inter alia to John Hamond, Thomas Maynard, Richard Eve and Robert Alleyn and theirs heirs for ever the reversion of the said 2 messuages last mentioned which were granted to the said Alice for her life, and so seised, they by deed of release dated 25 March, 36 Hen. VIII. 1545 remised and for ever quitclaimed to the said Robert Alleyn and Joan and their heirs all their right, title and interest in the said premises. Afterwards sicj the said Edward Cornewalleis and Alice by deed of release dated 23 March, 36 Hen. VIII. 1545 remised and for ever quitclaimed to the said Robert Alleyn and Joan all their estate, right and title to the said 2 messuages in the said parish of St. Alban, which the said Alice had for her life: which said deed was enrolled in the Court of Hustings 1 August, 37 Hen. VIII. 1545. Before the death of the said Robert Alleyn one William Pykering, Knight, by Letters Patent of King Hen. VIII. dated 26 September in the 30th year of his reign was seised of 7 messuages and 1 garden late in the several tenures of Robert Sawtrie, James Hounde, Thomas Plumme, Robert Hall, Robert Bulwan, Nicholas Bradley and Katherine Shorte, widow, lying in the parish of St. Mary at Axe, London, sometime belonging to the Monastery or Priory of Holy Trinity commonly called Christchurch, London, to him and his heirs for ever: wh1ch said William Pickering died thereof seised; after whose death William Pickering, esq., his son and next heir entered into the said premises as in right of in...
