The Intergalactic Peddler - Volume IV - A Preview
Dawn of the New Age

The IFTT Headquarters main office complex was located on a large asteroid named Regnieloc (reg-na-loc). The asteroid was located just on the outskirts of the Andromeda Galaxy in Universe Number Two. Shelley had already accepted a job with the IFTT, and they had now offered Daryl a job working to manage the massive collection of engineering documents produced by the food replicator facility. General Williams had invited the entire crew of The Empress to see the incredible place where Shelley and Daryl would be living and working. What Fred and Jill did not know was that General Williams had also worked with the crew of The Empress to plan a surprise birthday party for Fred and Jill’s 92nd wedding anniversary.
The IFTT facility was positively incredible, and everyone that had ever been there raved about the stone and masonry buildings constructed to house the facility. A star (sun) some 165 million miles away from the asteroid bathed the asteroid in full sunlight twenty-four hours a day. The asteroid did not rotate on its axis as most planets would. The sun was just far enough away that the asteroid did not melt. The outside temperature of the air on the asteroid hovered around eighty degrees below zero Fahrenheit. Seldom did the crew venture outside the confines of the buildings. The IFTT’s shuttles equipped with robotic limbs performed most of the maintenance and construction. Teleportation or a specially designed transport travel membrane allowed staff and visitors to move between travel membranes and the headquarters buildings. The latest generation of Mass Weight Instillers provided the artificial gravity by increasing the mass of everything inside the facility to replicate Earth’s gravity. William, a mathematician and structural engineer had had a heated discussion with Francis who was an astrophysicist, over how gravitation influenced the weigh the human body felt under differing levels of gravitation. They finally agreed that the weight of the human had little to do with how much gravitational attraction was applied to it, however, since ones weight is based on its mass and the gravitational force pulling on it, ones weight and gravity are proportional. Francis asked William, “Do you totally understand how the Mass Weight Instillers increase the gravity of humans on the Asteroid Regnieloc?” William chucked and said, “I am not certain the engineers that designed the damn thing fully understand how it works. I think they just stumbled upon the fact that it does and expanded upon the concept.” Francis commented to William that he was going to ask the IFTT engineers how it worked and see if they would tell him all their secrets. William looked at Francis and said, “Good luck with that my friend.”
