Rated 4 out of 5 by from Four Stars I think you have to understand the Keto/Paleo diet a great deal to fully appreciate this book. I have followed Maria's blog for over two years now, and have all her books. I think this book had some good beginner info in it and the recipes I tried were good. I do like her other cookbooks she has out more, and the recipes and information on her website are amazing! I have to get a couple hard to find ingredients online. I live in interior BC. Low Carb Canada, and Low Carb Grocery have sweeteners,(I Love Swerve), and the Jay Robb protein powder she recommends. They do have store fronts in Toronto and Vancouver. I buy Almond flour by the 25lb box either at the local health/bulk food store or, depending on the dollar. Peanut flour is also really good from Other than that I buy all other ingredients at the local Superstore or Save-On. Yes this way of eating seems expensive, but when you cut out all the crappy food your body doesn't need, believe me it evens out. And the health benefits are too many to list.

Sure if you want to pay $70 with shipping and duty for something worth $12 in the US go for it but I don't have that kind of money. And, every recipe has two or three items that are the above, and 2 or 3 that require hours to make ahead of time and last in your fridge for only a few days. Then there is a long list of ingredients you cannot get at all like duck lard. Tell me Sobeys has duck lard! Even if I had all this stuff I've never hear of or seen, EVER, it takes a lot of time to prepare - like I have time. Every recipe consists of items that are unattainable, ingredients that take hours to pre-prepare into a dish that takes time to prepare. They has gone over the edge with all natural ingredients, offering no substitutions for people who live in the real world and can't pay or attain this stuff to the point that this book is a complete waste of time. Give me a book where I can get these ingredients in Toronto at any supermarket.

I bought this book and have tried 4 recipes and they have all been a disaster. Most of the instructions are inaccurate creating unsuccessful results. Save your money!
