Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Fun Twist on Fairy Tales I read this book to my daughter and she absolutely loved it -- she sat spellbound for every page. I also enjoyed The Wishing Spell and thought it was a good book. However, maybe because I was reading it aloud, I found some of the writing cumbersome, especially the "he said" "she said" at the end of every sentence of dialogue. There was no variation. And it was every time. The story itself was fun, with so many of the familiar fairy tale characters, but with a new way to get to know them. The main characters are twins, Alex and Conner, with Alex being the smart never-gets-in-trouble girl, and Conner being the can't-pay-attention boy. It is nice to have a book for this age group that will appeal to both boys and girls -- there is lots of adventure, including ogres and a quest, along with the fairy tale characters, and a nice relationship between the brother and sister. Kids will also like the imagination of falling through a story book into another world, literally. Also, the illustrations were great and were a nice way to begin the chapters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice fairy tale Can't say it is a masterpiece, just a nice fairy tale to relax in the evening while reading it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I had my doubts about this book, merely because I thought it would be another hollywood actor ghost writing a book for more publicity. But, upon a recommendation from a younger friend of mine, I picked it up. It was one that refused to be put down. Now I am addicted to the series and ended up going to a signing of his. If you are a lover of fairy tales, this will delight you, whether you're 9 or 99!

"It's hard not to love a book dedicated to the Glee star's grandmother...Colfer gets off many good lines [and] the nifty ending ties the plot's multiple strands up while leaving room for further fairy tale adventures."-Publishers Weekly
