Faith will not save him.

Saker appears to be a simple priest, but in truth he's a spy for the head of his faith. Wounded in the line of duty by a Lascar sailor's blade, the weapon seems to follow him home. Unable to discard it, nor the sense of responsibility it brings, Saker can only follow its lead.
The dagger puts Saker on a journey to distant shores, on a path that will reveal terrible secrets about the empire, about the people he serves, and destroy the life he knows. The Lascar's dagger demands a price, and that price will be paid in blood.
Glenda Larke was born in Western Australia and trained as a teacher. She has taught English in Australia, Vienna, Tunisia and Malaysia. Glenda has two children and lives in Western Australia, with her husband.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great book with a few flaws When starting this book I noticed that there was to much important information given at the start of the book that seems irrelevant but later is of value, to me this made it hard to follow. It took me a while to get into this book, when I finally got to where I was enjoying enough that i did not want to go back to work from breaks the book was half over. Glenda Larke definitely knows how to write a story and have a great plot and that is one of the two things I look for in a book but the other part of knowing how to write I feel she could use some improvement. Little things that would be better able to catch the attention of the reader earlier in the book. That being said I would read the next book in the series for sure.
