Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good ol teenage love story I always loved Nicholas Sparks writing, he writes about romance (obviously) but it's real and tells it like it would happen in real life with real people. Ronnie's the grumpy vegetarian animal lover girl that wants to do her own thing and don't give a damn, and Will the athletic rich boy that seems to be happy and have it all. These two people seem most unlikely to fall in love, but of course they somehow suddenly stumble onto each other and miraculously fall in love. It's a summer romance you'll never forget. Even though as hard as they try to cover up there ugly past it comes up in the open no matter how hard they try to cover it. And how Will does everything to protect Ronnie from this crazy creepy guy Marcus away from Ronnie. This book shows that this is not your typical teen summer romance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aww This story is by far one that people of all ages can relate to and diffidently one that has been told before, but never in this light. Sparks has a way of turning a story you've heard before, selling it to you, and hooking you on it by the very first page. The story is so alluring and elegant, yet at the same time the characters contain so much damage and pain. You crave more and seem to be hanging on his ever word. You'd think the man was a teenage himself the way he is able to seem to capture perfectly their every thought and grasp the very essence of them. "The Last Song" is an absolute page-turning that will make you laugh, cry, and your heart flutter. It's a perfect novel for children of all ages.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from oh no no no I love Nicholas Sparks books but this one was not as I expected. I figured they made a movie out of it, so it should be good. When reading, of course, I was hooked. The way Nicholas tells a story makes it seem so real. It is as if he lived all those lives and knew how everyone felt. This one starts off with a teenager named Ronnie who has to spend the summer with her dad who lives in North Carolina. She lived in New York and was definitely not a country/beach girl. She was mad at her dad for leaving her mother a couple years ago and hadn’t spoken to him since. After his mother forces her to go with her little brother to stay there for two months, events happen that she never expected. Ronnie is a punk kid who just never really belonged and went clubbing all the time back in New York. After going to visit her dad she notices her life is changing. She makes a new friend named Blaze which turns out to be a big mistake after her abusive boyfriend makes the moves on Ronnie and Blaze frames her to get her back. Ronnie realized that not speaking to her father for three years was the worst mistake she had ever made because no matter what sort of trouble she got into down there, her father was always on her side. Ronnie used to play the piano but gave it up when her father left and never planned on playing again. She meets a boy named Will and he makes her fall in love with him. She realizes that he is more than a summer fling but since they were both going different ways in their life, she pushes him away. This story was more of a father daughter bonding story than it was a love story. It wasn’t my favourite. I watched the movie and it was absolutely horrible. I literally had to force myself to watch it. Miley completely ruined everything with her bad acting skills. I felt that the chemistry in the book was not portrayed well in the movie. The plot itself was horrible since they literally changed everything. I wish I could return the movie. Can I? Either way – I do not recommend the movie. Stay as far away as possible. I wish someone could have told me that before I bought it. They should do a remake with better actors and change the plot to match the book. Horrible.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good summer read Out of all the Nicholas Sparks books Ive read, this one falls about in the middle for me. I really enjoyed the story and character development of Ronnie but there were parts that I found to be a bit dry. Recommend the book over the movie a hundred times over but there are still parts of the storyline in the movie I preferred to the book. A Sparks fan will absolutely enjoy this book though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Love Story I totally recommend The Last Song, it’s an amazing book. Nicholas Sparks is such a wonderful author, all his books are really realistic. This is a very moving story and it will bring tears to every sensitive person. I couldn’t stop reading this book, I always wanted to know more about the story. The relationship Ronnie has with her father is complicated and it’s sad to see how much she is angry at him. The more we read it, the more we understand why Ronnie feels that way toward him. During the summer, she will gradually get closer to him. Music will help their relationship and bring them back to each other again. At the same time, we also learn about her relationship with her first boyfriend. The feelings a first love bring are very well explain and I think every girl can relate to that Unfortunately, Ronnie will learn something at the end of the summer that will change everything. This is a great love story between a teenage girl and her father and also with her first boyfriend. This is probably a book mostly for teenage girls and for young adults but there is a wonderful lesson that everyone can learn from that book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tear Jerker If you enjoy curling up in bed or on the couch and reading a good tear jerker, this is the book for you. This book has something about it that just won't allow you to put it down. I would say this book would be more targeted to women, young and mature. I would definately suggest it as a gift for your daughter, or even your mother. Nicholas Sparks does a great job, as he does in most of his books, making you feel like you are part of the story. This is a book that you will not be able to put down once you start it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic! This book by Nicholas Sparks is a must read! it is also a must see movie as well! Sparks really breaks your heart with this novel but no matter how much it makes you cry you just can't put it down. Before I saw the movie I finished this book in only two days! It has a great story, with alot you can relate too. It is more of a teenage love story, but shows a great relationship between father and daughter. This novel has a lot that you can relate to, with love, and relationships with parents. This novel really gets you thinking and is so worth the tears!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! Wonderful! The Last Song definitely met expectations and had alot of great moments and a great story line. I thought it slowed down towards the end, and lost some of its momentum, but in the last few pages, it picked up again. Overall, it was a good book and I recommend it to those who are interested in romance and love stories.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Usual Nicholas Sparks Here is yet another sad love story by Nicholas Sparks, with what I feel is more of an unusual ending...it's happy. :) I really enjoy Sparks's books I just find that they are often completely sad, where I was taken for a bit of a surprise at the end of this one. It was a wonderful change...still sad...but a much happier ending. "Seventeen-year-old Veronica “Ronnie” Miller’s life was turned upside down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Three yeas later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, particularly her father…until her mother decides it would be in everyone’s best interest i she and her younger brother spent the summer with him in North Carolina. Ronnie’s father, a former concert pianist, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will be the centerpiece of a local church. Resentful and rebellious, Ronnie rejects all of his attempts to reach out to her and threatens to return to New York before the summer’s end. But soon Ronnie meets Will, the town’s local heartthrob, and the last person she thought she’d ever be attracted to. As Ronnie slowly lets her guard down, she finds herself falling deeply in love, opening herself up to the greatest happiness⎯and pain⎯that she has ever known"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Utterly Compelling This book has you going from the very start. So many questions unanswered, so many secrets, and so many interesting people. This book has really unique and relatable characters and you can tell Nicholas Sparks payed attention to his teen years cuz he sure described everything, -every feeling and emotion- acturatly. At the end of the book, you certainly will have tears in your eyes and you can't help but feel for Ronnie. Loved this book. Way better than the movie :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Review: The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks After hearing great reviews, I decided to finally read The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. I haven’t seen the movie so it was a perfect opportunity for me to read the book before doing so. Beforehand, I wasn’t completely interested in the story because of the fact the summary on the back jacket didn’t pique my interest. Despite my lack of interest, I set aside my unread fashion magazines and began to read. I will have to admit I stopped half way through the book not due to boredom, but due to my schedule. I recently picked it back up and continued through the novel. When I first started to read the book, I didn’t have high expectations despite all the good reviews and praises. By the end of the book I wasn’t blown away, instead I was content with some minor suggestions. I thought since the book title was, “The Last Song” it would have music incorporated throughout the book, I was wrong. The book had more sea turtles in it than music itself! In the last 20 pages or so, the main message with music involved was finally portrayed but hardly mentioned. Other than that, the love story was alright, and I found there needed to be more focus on the real message. I did however like the simplicity of seeing the growth of the character, Ronnie from beginning to end. Overall it was an okay book and is not something I would read again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A New Favorite!! I finished reading this book a little while ago, and I find myself recommending it over and over again. Although I was a little leary at first (due to Miley Cyrus being in the movie/ on the cover of the book), I quickly learned that this book it a lot deeper and has a lot more meaning that I first assumed. There is a lot more about family that I first thought, and I finished the book with a new outlook on life. I actually prefered this to The Notebook. Definetly a must-read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! This book brought tears to my ears and my bum to the edge of the seat because this book is so breath taking. No, I don't have high reveiws for the movie due to all Miley's pouty faces and how they missed my favourite parts, but this book was so inspirational, so touching, I couldn't put it down. It's full of Love, Romance, Inspiration, and Drama. Nicholas Sparks really did himself a good book. I highly, highly, highly recommend this book for people that are 13 and older. This is one of my absolute favourite books. I hope its one of yours too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Classic “Opposites-Attract” Love Story… “The Last Song” by Nicholas Sparks is such a moving story which will bring you tears while reading. Ronnie (short for Veronica) and Jonah are on their way to spend time with their father for the summer. Ronnie has a history with shoplifting and hanging out with the wrong crowd. Old habits die hard it seems when she arrives in the town her dad lives, or perhaps she is just being misjudged. A boy named Will sees right through the “rebellious" act she puts on and like each love story; it doesn’t take long before Will begins to fall for her. This is a classic tale of opposites attract, with many promises and lies. This story was so unpredictable in many ways. Once you thought you were beginning to understand a character, a truth is reveled; nothing you could expect coming. I left out a great deal because I wouldn’t want to ruin it for anyone planning on reading this story. All I have to say is this is one of the best stories I’ve read in a long time and I’d like you all to read it and find out for yourselves. P.s. Oh and don’t forget to keep a box of tissues nearby! Trust me, you'll need them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from makes me feel young again. ... awesome I'm a Nicholas Sparks fan, and when I read this book I really felt the words. I think this book is good for anyone who enjoys a love story. Although it's geared towards the younger crowd I felt the author did a great job in having the reader relate to at least one character. It's a book about a young girl who has "parents issues". She meets a boy through summer that really changes her life. I love how each chapter was from a different person, the humor in this book is wonderful and I found myself laughing out loud more than once. The love story itself really is touching, I cried a heck of a lot but they weren't all sad tears. This book was truly amazing and I recommend it. If you are a fan of love stories and enjoy laughing, this is a great book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best book i've read in many years Unlike what people might think (Another love story from N.S in N.C....), this book stood out of all others by N.S... From the first page to approx. the middle of the book, I couldn't stop reading. Then, the movie went out in the theaters. I didn't see it. If you have seen the movie and you now want to read the book, don't think it's the same think. People's names change, and most importantly, the characters don't look like what you've seen on TV. It's NOT the same! But Nicholas Sparks wrote this story FOR Miley Cyrus and I read he wrote the script BEFORE the book. So, I can't choose. I loved books even since I was young, and for me, the feelings are more in the books. I LOVED IT! READ IT! Hahaha

Rated 5 out of 5 by from extraordinary One of my favourite books ever. Very sad but super good. I highly recommend this book. I haven't seen the movie yet but i doubt it will be as good as the book so i recommend that you read the book first

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Tear Jerker this book was so moving. I literally cried for most of the last few chapters of the book. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Nicholas Sparks' and for anyone who saw the movie and loved it. This book is very moving. It starts off with a troublesome teenager named ronnie who lives with her mom and brother in New York. Her father had left three years earlier and moved to South Carolina, in hopes to persue his dreams of being a concert pianist. This however caused his children, especially ronnie, to be angry with him and loose touch. But many things end up happening to ronnie, and this becomes a factor to her mother to ship away both her and Jonnah, her little brother, for the entire summer. Ronnie isn't very pleased wih this, but when the summer progresses she meets new friends new ennemies and relationships start to form that are good and bad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really great book Alright everyone this is the second book by Nicolas Sparks that I read and I loved it, I really didn't think I was going to like The Last Song as much as I did but I thought it was great. I found the storyline great and I loved the characters though I will say Ronnie annoyed me in the beginning because of her attitude but she gets over it. I will also say that I adored Jonah, it was alot of his parts that had me laughing he was great and by the way how creepy was Marcus. Overall I really thought this book was great it has alot of elements that people will enjoy, the book even made me choke up a bit,I really liked the book so go check it out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It was like listening to paint dry I spend much time in my car and often listen to audiobooks on CDs. This book was slow, boring and so predictable. I easily assumed early on that Marcus set the church fire, the dad would die, Blaze would come through for Ronnie, etc etc. Boring, boring, boring. Long description without colourful descriptive language. My fourteen year old daughter also thought it was the most dragged out book she had ever read. We could not wait for it to be over. Sparks' books are predicable, sappy, "formula" written books. I will never pick one up regardless of the reviews or the movies made from them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breathtakingly Beautiful The Last Song is a amazing, tear jerking story. I spent most of my time trying not to cry during the ending of the novel. But, i would read it over and over again. I read it in two days, unable to put it down. I recommend everyone and anybody to read this book. Nick Sparks has a gift for love stories. This one is one of the best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully Amazing I read all the time so when my english teacher told my class before easter break we had to have a book read for thefirst class back my thoughts automatically went to The Last Song , sitting on my shelf unread. So thats what i did over my easter break I started on MOnday and just finished. It was amazing I loved every page of it.I love thet fact that Ronnie never got along with her dad at first but through out the novel you could see how her feelings toward her dad changed. When Ronnie first started to hang out Blaze and Marcus and the other two I new something was up, so when Blaze got burned because of Marcus I did feel bad for her and sad, but i felt it showed her how Marcus really was and it mad up her mind to patch things up with her mom.Marcus. I didn't like that guy from the start, and felt very glad that at the end he got what he deserved.Scott, I felt he was kind full of him self at times with Cassie and Ashley , but i'm glad Will never listined to Ronnie about the "Right" thing to do, for that would have been the biggest mistake of bothe Ronnie and Will's lives. Will, god love him, when Ronnie was fliping out over nothing sometimes, he still stood by her side. even when his mother hated her, he was still there. At the end when Steve died, i cryed , i didnt want him to die just aftr him and Ronnie re-connected after 3 years. Over all i loved the book, i wanted so bad for Ronnie and Will to make it even if the signs wernt there for them, so when he said he wasswitching progrms/schools i was so happy, unlike in dear john when savannah and john didnt make it because she fell for somebody else, honestly thought the same thing wold happen for Will, he would meet somebody else at collage and forget about Ronnie, at her dads funeral when he said he would call, but he didnt for awhile i thought yup, he is over her but at the last 2 pages of the book that boy surprised me ! It was absolutely one of my all time favourite books so far. if your reading thins review and you read The Last SOng like me , but nothing else by Nicholas Sparks, GO BUY SOME OTHERS BY HIM! serisouly, he has to be one of the best authors of our time! he is amazing i swear i cryed at least once in every book i read by him , being them tears of joy, or saddness, it leaves you wanting to read more and wishing there was more to the book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing!! This story tells about a teenage girl, Ronnie, spending a summer with her dad. She didn't talk to her dad for 3 years because he left her and her family. Ronnie also meets a boy named Will and eventually the both fall in love with eachother. It is truly a great story and I recommend it. It relates to the human teenage girl life. The book is very different from the movie so I strongly recommend that if you've seen the movie or not, read the book. It doesn't matter if your halfway through the book and you went to go see the movie. The book is very different and the ending is more detailed in the book than the movie. 2 thumbs up!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Tear Jerker The Last Song was such an amazing book. Nicholas Sparks has done it again, This book just proved what an extrodinary author Sparks' really is. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Touching Story Wow this book is so heart felt right from the beginning it pulls you into the lives of two siblings whom come to spend the summer with their dad. At times tears filled my eyes knowing how a father's love changed his daughters way of thinking. Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors because he is a master at his craft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tear-jerking perfection wow wow wow wow wow wow! What else is there to say about the newest addition to Nicholas Sparks body of work? I can't think of anything I didn't absolutely love about this novel. I fell in love with the characters, with their hearts and with the circumstances of their lives. Ronnie, the main character, is such an easy girl to relate to for me. I've been through so much of the same things that I could actually feel what she was feeling. If you are a fan of "The Notebook" and "A Walk to Remember", then you should definitely go pick up a copy of "The Last Song"...(before the movie comes out at the end of march). A heart-breaking love story about loss, forgiveness, and truth. READ IT. If you don't.... you're missing out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful!!!! I could not put this book down. It was written very well and was captivating from page 1. The growth of Ronnie (main character) was astonishing and moving. For the last 100 pages was difficult for me to read because Sparks (Author) kept playing on my emotions and I cried for the whole ending. When I say, cried I don't mean my eyes watering I mean full on crying with tears rolling down my cheeks every two seconds. I will most likely re-read this book multiple times in the future! :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm speechless. This was the first book I read of Nicholas', and it is definitely one of the best books I've ever read. It's easy to relate to, in all different aspects... whether it's with Ronnie, Will or Steve. It's a real tear-jerker but it teaches you a lot about life. It's just amazing. I can't get my mind off of it. It will be stuck with you forever. A must read!! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Last Song- A touching novel The book Last Song was written by one of the most romantic dramatic authors of our time, Nicholas Sparks. This book is about loyalty, trust, honor, family, love and friendship. Nicholas Sparks writing is absolutely brilliant and inspiring. We do have to admit that it has been a while since we sat down with a really good book and finished it completely. We adore Nicholas Sparks and all of his stories. As soon as we started reading this book we found ourselves in tears. With about forty pages near the end of the novel, we kept finding ourselves with wet eyes and the sniffles. The style that Nicholas Sparks wrote in was different than any of the other books that we have read. He really describes all the characters, the scenery and other elements of the story with vivid description words that make the reader feel as if they can see the whole thing, and can even make you believe that you are in the story. This book is a great read not only for teens but for adults as well. We believe that many people can relate to this story since it emphasizes a lot on family and relationships. This book is one of those books that you can pick up on Sunday night and finish it by Tuesday. It keeps you wanting more, and it keeps you on your toes with all the characters and their struggles. Nicholas Sparks the Last Song is an excellent book that we would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoy a touching, inspirational story of family, love and forgiveness. As with all of Sparks’ books, be sure to expect some tears, joy, love for many of the characters. The wonderful characters in the Last Song will stay with you long after you have finished the book.
