As a young boy, Billy Bartlett belives he has uncovered the compelling secret that haunts his Uncle Fred, but he can tell no one. Only many years later, while serving overseas with the RAF during the Second World War does Billy discover his uncle's true story, the woman he loved and the true reason for the sadness that has consumed him. But it may just be too late.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has lots of meaning in the book I had heard about this book from a friend and had to go to 2 stores to find it but it was well worth the search . From the time I read the first page I was hooked. A wonderfully written book that absolutely captivated me. I enjoyed all the characters and settings that were so well described I could see them. Just a beautiful story that actually brought tears to my eyes I'm the end. I hope there are more books by this author . I recommend this book highly if you love reading a book with a real story line.
