A thrilling new historical novel that will forever alter our understanding of one of mankind’s greatest myths—the Amazons—from the author of the New York Times bestseller Juliet

The Lost Sisterhood tells the story of Diana, an aspiring young— but somewhat aimless—professor at Oxford. Her fascination with the history of the Amazons, the legendary warrior women of ancient Greece, is deeply connected with her own family’s history. When Diana is invited to consult on an archaeological excavation, she quickly realizes that here, finally, may be the proof that the Amazons were real.

The “true” history of the Amazons is threaded through the modern-day hunt Diana embarks upon with her mysterious employer. This remote backstory focuses on a group of women and more specifically on two sisters, whose fight to survive takes us through ancient Greece and to Troy, where the novel reinvents our perspective on the famous Trojan War.

The Lost Sisterhood features a cast of iconic, legendary characters and another grand adventure from a master storyteller. Fortier delivers a fresh new story to keep her audience coming back for more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Adventure I have recommended this book to almost every woman I know. It deals with the legend of the Amazons, and has a "love story" intertwined, but the premise of the book is Female Power. This book was a huge surprise for me. I had bought it in the sale section, and was expecting an "okay" beach read for my summer holidays. I could not put this book down. I wanted to read the entire novel in one sitting. The way the author tells the history and legend of the Amazons within Greek mythology is suspenseful and empowering. Would definitely recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong Women This books presents a fascinating story encompassing adventure, fantasy, archaeology, and history. The book is about strong women who seek to take control of their own lives and create their own destiny. The author weaves Greek history and historical references into a story about an academic scholar and the legendary Amazon women who she seeks to prove the existence of. A journey to Greece of the past and the present. The book shows that women have made a strong contribution throughout history to the world and that this should be recognized.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sisterhood Although I enjoyed this book in terms of tearoysing ny curiosity regarding myths in genral and ancient Greek civilization, the alternating chapters quickly became tiring. In addition Kate Mosses's Labyrinth kept on springing to mind. In a way this felt a bit like a copy cat novel and as such lessened my enjoyment.
