Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best light novels I've read I was obsessed with the Haruhi series when I was a kid. I watched it, read the manga and the novels. The novels were the best, they explained much more than the anime or manga ever did and they are very enjoyable. It's not just a young adult book but also good for teens, it's basically about a girl named Haruhi who creates a club called the SOS Brigade to find the extraordinary ( aliens, espers, etc. ). I would recommend reading the novels first and then watching the anime/reading the manga. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the SOS Brigade has took ME by storm Haruhi Suzumiya-what's she to you? Is she a figure on your desk in your room, the fan art in your sketchbook, the anime you watch, the manga you read,or the novel you enjoyed? For me all of the above (well not the figure one, only in my dreams)I bought this book because of an add in one of my Shonen Jump magazines. I decided to try it out, finding out long before buying that there was a manga, and an anime adaption of the book. i read it, and loved it. i stayed up all night reading it over and over again, and while i'm writing this review, Melancholy is sitting beside me on the table. A must-read for any otaku,a must read for anyone. I don't think that everyone will enjoy this title if your not a big Sci-Fi,Comedy,School Life, and Moe type oof fan, then this is not the book for you.But your decision may change if thats what Haruhi wants, because,of course, she might just create a new, alien infested world if you disagree with her.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful! Haruhi Suzumiya was a phenomenon that took Japan by storm. Yen Press has successfully brought this over to North America with their adaptation. The translation is accurate, and I'm glad to see the original illustrations still intact. As a novel, Haruhi Suzumiya is page turner, no doubt. Look past the simple, minimalistic cover. Whether you're familiar with the story or not, this light novel will have your interests piqued. Haruhi Suzumiya is a unique character, and people from all over the world can sit back and enjoy the tale.
