Capt. Thomas, the narrator, was instantaneously struck dead, without any injury to his compau ions. In the manuscript, which was written a bout twenty five years after the occurrence, it is stated that this happened in August; but Mr. Arnold wrote in the margin of the manuscript the following words, probably obtained from some other person, Whose testimony was equally as good and more positive - the time as I am certainly informed was the last day of July In this, Mr. Arnold is sustained by Mr. Secretary Mor ton in his New England's Memorial, and by the verdict of the jury of inquest held upon the bo dy of the deceased on the day of the melan choly occurrence, and which was recorded soon afternm'ong the proceedings of the General Court of the Coldrry of New Plymouth. A literal copy of the above mentioned verdict will be given in its proper place.
