In this stunning conclusion to the Orphan Queen duology, New York Times bestselling coauthor of My Plain Jane Jodi Meadows follows Wilhelmina’s breathtaking and brave journey from orphaned criminal on the streets to magic-wielding queen.

This epic fantasy duology is perfect for fans of Graceling by Kristin Cashore, The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson, and Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo.

Princess Wilhelmina is ready for her crown, but declaring herself queen means war. Her magic is uncontrollable and now there’s a living boy made of wraith—destructive and deadly, and willing to do anything for her.

Caught between what she wants and what is right, Wilhelmina realizes the throne might not even matter. Everyone thought the wraith was years off, but already it’s destroying Indigo Kingdom villages. Princess Wilhelmina’s ability might be just the thing to help reclaim her kingdom—or ruin it forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ending is here and it's emotional. Book two is almost here and I was so lucky to have the chance to read the arc. The Orphan Queen left us all with so many questions and wondering what was going to happen to our beloved Tobiah. I remember finishing The Orphan Queen and just crying. It took me a while to recover from my feelings, and things didn’t change this time around. The amount of emotion and feelings in this book is absolutely perfect. A great combination mixed together that’s going to have you raving about it for a long time. The world in both of these books is incredible. I never found myself to be getting tired of it in the first or the second book. It easily was pictured in my mind, and even now I can still see the mirrors in my mind. Wil is one hell of a woman. A lot of important decisions have fallen into her hands, and she’s striving to be the leader that her people need. She knows what’s important to her and what she needs to do to make sure things get done. She is fighting to make sure that in the end everything is the way it should be in her kingdom. She’s strong and determined. It takes a lot to bring her down. It’s her strength which helps her push through all of the turmoil going on in the world around her. Tobiah and Wil are at the top of my OTP list. One of the reasons being that you wanted them together so much but the book wasn’t saturated and overfilled with romance. It had the perfect amount sprinkled through and was well worth the wait. Would James and Wil have been awesome? Absolutely. But in the end, I think Wil is with the perfect person. James. All I can say is, what a hero. My heart still hurts. That plot twist at the end caused me so much pain and happiness all at once. Both him and Wraith boy are my favorites of all the characters. My husband walked in on me while reading this part and he slowly backed away and left me to my overflowing emotions. Speaking of the ending let’s talk about how perfectly this book ended. From how it ends without you having any questions, to that amazing list that you’re going to read about and it’s going to make you cry even harder. It wrapped up this adventure and story so well. Jodi did an incredible job with this duology and all of the novellas that come along with it. I highly recommend you read this and make sure you have some tissues too. Trust me – It’s worth your tears. I can’t wait to see what comes next from Jodi. The Fallen Isles trilogy can not get here fast enough!
