about

The #1 New York Times bestseller—a thrilling new romance from E L James, author of the phenomenal bestselling Fifty Shades Trilogy.

London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.

But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?

From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.
E L James is an incurable romantic and a self-confessed fangirl. After twenty-five years of working in television, she decided to pursue a childhood dream and write stories that readers could take to their hearts. The result was the controversial and sensuous romance Fifty Shades of Grey and its two sequels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fif...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money. Honestly.. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Its basically a story about a maid who cleans the guys’s house all day and she likes to play the piano. The foreign words like ZOT is annoying.. whoever did the editing did a really bad job, it has no story. Very dull.. i can’t even finish it lmao. Do urself a favour and buy another book, i’m very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Waste your $$$$$ This book is a MASSIVE let down. Why can't she write a book with a strong, confident female lead to better match the wit of the male?? Instead we are treated to a very meek female lead who becomes infactuated with her male boss, who in turn does the same with her. Honestly, so unrealistic. No proper plot development. I can't even finish the book. Trying to get to the half way point was tough. If you liked her other books don't buy this one as you will be VERY, VERY, VERY disappointed!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just keep on Walking ... I bought this book as I enjoyed her trilogy with the mystery element that was interwoven. Well, this book is a MASSIVE let down. The characters are horrid, the meek, defenseless female lead and the rich 'broken' male predictable and boring. I couldn't even enjoy the 'escape' that I have when I read such books and am unsure if I'll bother finishing it. If you liked the Fifty Shades books just keep on walking. This book has no led up, is anti-climatic, boring, and truly unrealistic! Very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unbelievable E.L James comes out with yet another book that has women stuck in the normative archaic gender binary of serving the man, and female character Alessia — lead male character Maxim’s latest target who “changes him for the better” in a cliché way that does NOT subvert the cliché trope — is again nothing but a caricature of that binary, representing James’ backward beliefs about what she thinks it means to be a woman: being imprisoned physically and emotionally. I have no other words to describe how awful this book was all around, and the Atlantic’s review (google E.L James the Mister review by the Atlantic) hammers down exactly what I thought while reading. James should never write another book ever again. She is an abomination in the female writing community.
