Anatomy, hygiene, periosteum, cartilage, ligaments, muscles, fractures, exhaustion, beverages, appetite, effervescent, condiments, irritant, corpuscles, coagulation, trachea, glottis, diaphragm, asphyxia, resuscitation, and inflammation. LIV. A broad field of botanical study is embodied in the following topics: Absorption, conduction, transpirationassimilation, translocation, respiration, and reproduction. The ovules are fertilized by the pollen. The pollen reaches the ovule, and sets up the peculiar growth upon its moist and permeable tissue, which results in the production of an embryo. Dandelion, hypatica, arbutus, orchis, anemone, balsam, gentian, peony, fuchsia, dahlia, daffodil, heliotrope, wistaria, hyacinth, alyssum, verbena, magnolia, golden-rod, mignonette, and chrysanthemum are common names of flowers.
