Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING If you've seen the movie, hated it, and are reluctant to pick up the book...FORGET THE MOVIE AND PICK UP THE BOOK. The story makes so much sense, although there is a lot happening at once. The idea is phenomenal and the writing is just enthralling. I cannot recommend this book enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Magical Book Ever! I'm a children's book reviewer, and I've read A LOT of books for ages 8-18. And the Neverending Story is by far the most magical book I've ever read. I have purposely never seen the film, as I find movies always ruin books for me. Since I read this book about 10 years ago, I have read it 5 times, and I think I enjoy it more with each read. I would have to say this is my favorite book of all time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Remarkable This book can be read by all ages since it is well written but is still easy to read. It is great for fantasy lovers, and the pages just fly by, even though there are 440 pages. There are many original ideas that had never occurred to me before. The story kept me interested from start to finish. A boy gets swept into a magical book, in which he tries to save all the Fantastican creatures, but with every wish he makes loses his memory of the real world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding I find it difficult to get through a complete book as my interest usually fades within the first half. Yet I found myself devouring this book in it's entirety and was dissapointed when I had to put it down. I thought after seeing the movie with my children that the book would not be of any interest to me but I was wrong. The twists and turns keep you wondering and never on the same page . Don't question it, get it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awakens your heart You don't need to be a fantasy reader nor a child to love this book. Michael Ende takes the child in you through this novel. A gorgeous, resonating book that has been on my bookshelf almost all my life. By the end of the novel, you will reflect on those you love.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I first read this book when i was in grade four, and i really liked it then, but it was a bit too big for me. I took a long time to read it and that somehow dimed the effect, but now I'm 15 and i'm reading it again. I sort of forgot about it, but it's the kind of book that lingers in the back of your subconscious mind. I've started reading it again after my english teacher mentioned it yesterday during class. I've been picking up on alot of things that i missed the first time around, and I think that it's the most amazing book that I've read for a while, it's full of images and symbols and it is so much fun to read. It's fantastic and an experience that will never end, while I'm reading other books and reading this one again and again. But it's all really one book, every book is joined together as one text, therefore the stories never really end, every story will be told at another time, and i am happpy as i learn them all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly one-of-a-kind Since I was a kid, that's been my favourite book. If you've seen the movies, and loved them - then you can be thrilled they only scratch the surface. This journey of self-discovery truly is unique as Bastian travels into a world unto himself, and a world that he creates from his own imagination at that! Read of his travels through the many lands of Fantastica and fall in love with a character that lies in every one of us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome book! This is my favourite fantasy book of all time, and I have read numerous fantasy books. This one may seem long at first, but trust me, once you get into the first 50 pages or so you won't be able to put it down! So well-written and elaborate, the story is breathtaking. A must-read for any Fantasy genre fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXTRAORDINARY I devoured the book like a box of my favorite chocolates. I read it throughout the night and in that time, I forgot the world existed. Rich in imagery, fantasy and adventure, it captured my imagination and awakened the recesses of my childhood dreams. A tale of magic and beauty, it drew me into a whirlwind of color and emotion. I saw through the eyes of the protagonist and the book became a window to his world--a world that is a poignant reflection of the human experience. No other story embodies the extravagance of a movie, the ambiguity of an abstract and the sensitivity of a poem. An incomparable work of art. What more can I say...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Cool Book I have read this book twice and will starting it again. I love this book and it is just like the film, but more characters and etc. If you love fantasy novels and films or (and) loved the film you will really like this book. Yes it is a big but well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was a GOOD book! a 13 year-olds opinion. I really liked the Neverending story, the book. The movies sucked! I watched the first one, it was ok but the acting was horrible. I watched the second, it was again ok but the fantasy in it was REALLY fake. And third well, it had hardly ANY fantasy parts. Now the book, that was good. I recommend the book to people of all ages!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This became my favourite book! if you have seen the movie and liked it, you should read this amazing novel, it is way better, even if you didn't like the movie READ THE BOOK books are usually better then the movies are anyway. This is a classic, i bought one of the hardcover ones and it was totaly worth the extra money, parts of the book are in a different colour and everything (theres a reason for it, but you need to read the book to find out why there are two different coloured fonts. If you like fantasy and like to dream and get lost in a book, this is definatly the one to choose, its a whole new world to discover!
