Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved, loved, loved this book. After seeing the movie, I knew that I would love the book, but I fell in love with it. I found some many delightful quotes in each and every chapter. I would be happy to read it over and over again. Thanks, Mr. Sparks for a great story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who doesn't love this story? This is a story of a young love gone wrong and the superbly right. I cry at the same spot every single time. This is the only book of Nick Sparks that I can bring myself to re-reading, a lot..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The movie is better I just wasted my time reading this. The movie script is much better and more heartfelt than the book. I'm glad the film makers made the changes they did because the story in the book has details missing. It felt holey. Sad to say, but, for the first time, I have enjoyed much more the movie version of a book. Usually, the film adaption does no justice to the actual story and feeling of the written word, but with this book it was completely the opposite. :-

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good book I haven't seen the movie so I cant compare between the two but I loved how this book made my heart ache. I am actually a bit nervous about seeing the movie because I think I will cry a lot while watching it. It was a good read, short but very good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful I know that many people have an issue with The Notebook, but this is and always has been my number one faviourite novel. I never cried so much reading a novel in my life. It's even better then the movie was. Being his first romance novel, Nicholas Sparks did an amazing job capturing emotion and feeling in his words. An absolute masterpiece in my personal opinion. It's rare that I'd read a book more than once, but I've already read this one three times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True Love “They didn’t agree on much. In fact, they didn’t agree on anything. They fought all the time and challenged each other everyday. But despite their differences, they had one important thing in common. They were crazy about each other.” The Notebook, written by Nicholas Sparks is a beautiful story about true love. The novel describes all that true love involves including the good times, the tears, the laugher and the hard times. Noah and Allie meet as young teenagers. What begins as a summer romance turns into a lifetime of love and happiness. The theme of the novel is that two people who are truly in love would do anything to be together. The novel begins with Noah fighting for Allie when she refuses to go out with him. He finally gets her to agree and they fall in love, but the fight for their love does not stop there. Noah is not the wealthy kind of man that Allie’s parents feel she deserves. Allie is forced to leave Noah, but years later they rekindle their love and realize through all the hard times they face they desperately want to be with each other. This book was a light and easy read. The wonderfully written story warms the heart and gives people hope that true love still exists.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Notebook Sorry I know there are die hard fans out there for this book, but to me it was one of the worst I have read. I wanted a easy breezy read for a day this summer and I definitely got it...sorry, but this book is just a harlequin romance novel with a bit of shine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What's with all the Hype? Most romantic novel? Pulls on your heartstrings? Not a chance on both counts! I do not know why people gave this book 5 stars. The characters are boring, and it's typical fluff romance. It is sad about the outcome but I couldn't connect with any of the characters, and in all honesty it was boring.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A cute story So this is the first Nicolas Sparks book I read and I'm happy with it,The Notebook is a really cute love story and I enjoyed reading it, I will say I found the last chapter to be a bit sad but at least it did end with a semi happy ending. I have never seen the movie for this so I have no idea how it compares but you never know maybe one day I will. Overall it was a fun quick read and if your into love stories this is a good one to add to the shelf,I will say that I have read better stories but it's still good. I will read more stuff by Nicolas Sparks in the future because he is a good writer. :0)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ah...Nicholas Sparks...another good book I just finished reading this book, and I must say, I wasn't disappointed. This is the second Nicholas Sparks book that I read, and I must say, even though his books are a bit short, the stories that he tells are amazing. I love how he brings the reader into the world of the characters...and how the love of the Noah and Allie had survived and flourished over the years. It makes you believe that soul mates do truly exist. A tear jerker, on all accounts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Abosolutely Awful! The same old generic Nicholas Sparks style of writing. The writing is childish and doesn't have any depth. It's really unfortunate that people believe this to be the best book they've ever read. If you want a good classic love story try Wuthering Heights. Nicholas Sparks is just a pathetic excuse for a writer, in my opinion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Far better than the movie! I loved every moment of this book! I was fortunate enough to have read the book before watching the movie - the book is much more touching and romantic. I highly recommend this beautiful love story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely loved it! This is one of the sweetest books I have ever read! I would definately recommend reading the book first, and then watching the movie. Both are really good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING I cried like a child reading this book. The whole time I was thinking of my own relationship and I suddenly came to realise how much I love my own... this book is the ULTIMATE book to show the true power of love.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What is True Love? The notebook written by Nicholas Sparks is one of my all time favorites. I re-read it while I was waiting for my order for Angels of Trilogy and thought I should write a review about it because it definitely needs all the attention because it's a fabulous novel, lol. I read this book a million times (of couse I'm slightly exaggerating, lol) and everytime I read it I felt the same experience as I read it the first time. This book was also made into a movie with the same titile. Of course, the plots of the movie and novel are a bit different but their both beautiful in their own ways. Anyways, I recommend this book to anyone that believes that the love Noah and Allie shares exists in reality and in my opinion it does but time is what will bring us to that. It is love that is SO true that it makes it a definite must read novel. I hope I can hear your opinions about this novel and I'll get back to you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Truly true love Sparks weaves the love story of his wife grandparents into a wonderful masterpiece. Nicolas demonstrates that even true love can still exist today. Noah, a country boy met Alison at the fair. Over the summer, they fell deeply in love. But when Alie left, they were both heartbroken...There's only one thing I can tell you, the story has a very happy ending!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful love story I have yet to see how the movie compares, but this book took me by surprise. I did not expect such a heart-warming love story to emerge in this novel. It left me breathless at some moments, and crying my heart out at others. A very touching story. Good if you are looking for a great love and romance book, or if you just want a good cry once in awhile. Enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Love This was a great love story, very intense. This is the kind of love people should strive for. Some people believe that the fire and passion in a relationship is what tells you you are in love, I believe it is the one moment when you see into the future, and see yourself and your mate in your old age and still in love. Growing old together is the true test.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have the Kleenex ready ! This book has got to be one of my favorites. I love Romance novels, and the love in this one is so intense. The description Nicholas uses is awesome, and i wouldn't have it any other way . I like the book and the movie equally, as there are very little differences. Throughout this book i cried tears of sadness and joy and when an another is able to put two emotions so strongly into a book than they have to be good. I recommend this book to anybody who likes Romance novels because this book should go down into history.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unforgettable Nicholas Sparks creates a love story so captivating and classical, The Notebook will weave you into this intricate story of romance, beauty and mystery at the first page. This book is certainly a timeless piece that will entrance readers of all ages.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simplicity at its best... This is a remarkable story because the characters are so well drawn out and the story is so simple. Sparks weaves past and present together to tell the tale of two lovers, and just like the movie, is successful in capturing and captivating a memorable and straight-forward character-based story. If you liked the movie, you'll most definitely like the's beautiful and takes no time at all to read. Perfect for summer reading!

It's sad, it's emotional, it's sweet and most of all it's beautiful. Read this book and you will not be disappointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True love at its best! This is one of the best love stories I have read in years. A story of their love that can over come so many changes. In the end it is still deep in there. As having a family memeber with this sad but true to life sickness it is very heart warming to see that things work out in the end. And just being your self and true to your heart is the best you can do.

Rated out of 5 by from Tear Jerker This book was wonderful. I must have cried about 5 times throughout the book. I was kind of disappointed with the movie, I found that the book was better at making you feel what the characters were feeling or thinking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We should all be this lucky Sparks' is a tad melodramatic in his prose but this tender story of growing old with your true love is endearing. All I can say is ... we should all be this lucky. The Notebook has all the standard love themes of love lost and found , torn between two lovers , love that cannot be due to socioeconomic constraints , first loves reunited , and on and on and on. Noah and Alli fall in love at 17, again at 31, and Alli and Noah find themselves in an old age home in their 80's. Once more, if you're meant to be together, nothing and no one will stop it. Interesting footnote that Sparks' story caused sparks to fly on the set of the movie and the two co-stars got together in real life. How's that for life imitating art?
Date published: 2006-02-26
Rated 2 out of 5 by from absolutely horrible This book was terrible!!!! i thought it to be a total waste of time, i was extrmely disapponted with nicholas sparks. however,it is a litlle okay book that i suppose can be read every now and then. But i do not recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Touching I read A Walk To Remember then had this book recommended to me. I loved them so much I now own every Nicholas Sparks book. The Notebook is an excellent story with a really touching ending. I've read it several times and seen the movies, and cry every time. If love stories are what interest you, you'll love this. And contrary to someone else's review, it's NOT soft-core porn, the sex in Sparks' books is always very tastefully done.
Date published: 2006-01-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Wonderful Love Story This book was really great, in my opinion, because it showed way more passion than the actual movie. This book was deep on so many levels and although it was at times, dragging a little, it was a fabulous read. My advice: Don't see the movie first because then you'll know what's happening next. I didn't get to have an edge of my seat experience! But after you read the book, then see the movie! Because the 2 of them together make for an awesome combination. It brought tears to my eyes and as for those who don't believe in love, this will get you believing again! If you like books that are well written (poetic even), heartfelt (this was definitely written from the soul, not to mention one of the greatest love stories EVER) and something that will keep you guessing (and reading, assuming that you haven't seen the movie, well even if you have) I recommend The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks.
Date published: 2006-01-21
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ugh This has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever read. The only reason it has so many fans is that a) it is thinly disguised soft-core pornography (!!) and b) people today just plain have lousy taste. I'm sorry, but it's true. This isn't a truly profound love story with depth - Citizen Kane, now that's an example of a story with actual meaning instead of this cheap romantic trash. But then again I'm not really into that type of stuff..
Date published: 2005-12-21
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It was a good one This book made me cry the most, the depth of love was very over powering, and that love could take you so very far. I'm not too sure though, even if the depth of love in this book was the greatest and the one that pulled the most heartstrings I don't think it was the best of his books. I'm not sure but after reading all of Nicholas Spark's other book The Notebook just didn't seem as good as it sounded to be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every great love, has a great story How true is that? Anyone with eyes and a romantic sense of imagination can see that this novel shines as one of the most beautiful love stories ever written. The love shared between Noah and Allie is something that all of us are searching for, but are afraid to find. Both took a leap of faith at falling in love, but Allie left before the summer was over because her parents were moving. Noah and Allie moved on from eachother, but neither of them ever forgot the summer nights from so long ago. True love just sort of sneaks up on you, and when you find it, you can never seem to let it go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A TRUE LOVE STORY This book is written beautifully. It touched my heart and soul. I cried when the characters cried and was happy when they were. We should all be so lucky to feel love the way these characters do. The author did not go over the top. It was a true heart felt story that I really enjoyed. I hope you are moved in the same way reading this book as I was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO ROMANTIC! okay...this is really good book. I mean im not that emotional when it comes to movies or books...but when i read this book...tears came to my eyes...but then i think the movie was kind of wrong...becasue if u've read The Wedding which is a sequel to The Notebook u'll understand that Noah can't die...becasue if he dies then there would be no sequel to The Wedding. So yeah...the movie was a little odd...but the book was soo amazing....i think that you should always read the book first then watch the movie (if there is a movie) becasue if u read the book first u can picture everything in ur mind..and it would be just as good...but if u watch the movie first of course u'll know what will happen in the book and all u'll picture would be the movie...its not as interesting i should kno...along with Dan Brown's *The Da Vinci Code* and all the *Harry Potter books* all of Nicholas Sparks book is a must be on ur bookshelf...most of his books will make you at least tear...and i've read most of his books trust me...i jsut need to get a few more and that would be it. But all i have to say is that Along with Dan Brown and J.K Rowling Nicholas Sparks is a very gifted author. Supporting him 100%

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Romance. The book is for the romantic at heart. Nicholas Sparks describes every scene with such imaginative description. My favourite part of the book was when the two were making love to eachother, it was so passionate and it gave me a head rush. I would recommend this book to any man or woman who loves a story about two long lost lovers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's a poor read. I recommended this book to my fellow classmates and to my teacher because I thought the movies was soo good. This is because The notebook was the first book that ever made me cry and I thought that was unbelievable. So, we ordered a couple of books and I, the classmates, and the teacher read it together. It's so terrible! The movie had so much emotion played into it and the book left so many parts out that it was unbearable. The tone, the language used in this book is really elementary. Whoever read this book and thought to be good must not like reading books because this book was a letdown in my point of view. We couldn't continue reading it because it was terrible since we were critiquing it in every single way from different angles. I would never recommend this book to ANYONE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Love Story The Notebook is such an amazing story. It's awesome too if you have seen the movie and read the book, as the book focuses on Noah and Allie more when they are older and the movie more so on when they are younger. I recomend this book to everyone!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How could you not read this book? This book is the best book I have ever read. I have read a lot of books, and this is the best one. I don't know what I would have done if my friend told me about this book and if I didn't actually read it instead of just watching the movie. The movie is good to. I encourage everyone to read this book and see the movie!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVED IT! I'm 14, and this usually isn't the kind of book I'd read, but after I saw the great movie, I had to read it! If you think the movie is great, wait until you read the book. It's AMAZING! I couldn't put it down. It made you feel the feelings of Noah and Allie more than the movie did. I don't think I got through a chapter without crying, it was the BEST book I have ever read. If you're considering buying this, don't consider, just BUY IT! You will not regret it! I promise you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A story of true love for the ages. I loved the book. The story is touching and very romantic; it made laugh, smile and cry. I read the book after I saw the movie and it moved me even more than the film did. The story shows how pure and unyeilding true love between soulmates can be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timeless This is byfar the sappiest book I've ever read-but who ever knew that it would also be one of my favorites? It was such a touching, enchanting book which lead me to tears in basically everyone of the last chapters. It's about an endless love that can't die or even falter slightly. By the way, if you're not in the mood for endless romance and no humor at all, than save this book for later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incomparable From the moment I read the first page, I knew this book would touch my soul. All of us should be able to relate to such an eminent story. Sparks is able to set the background for a believable journey of the individual and for lovers. The book is truly a timeless treasure to remind us what life, family and love is suppose to be like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timeless Romance I've read all of Nicholas Sparks' novels, but The Notebook is by far the best one. It's a story of innocent timeless true love. The story was shorter than most of his novels, but the outstanding story line captivates you. I watched the movie and its excellent, but the novel just captures the emotion of the characters to such a great extent. You can really understand that true love prevails not matter what age you are.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Short I thought this book was good. But really short. Sparks could have made some more details in the novel or let time slow down the story at least. But for the length that it was it was good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Speechless This is a classic romance novel. Far better than anyone I have ever read. It was heartwarming. The last chapter 'Winter for Two' had to be the best explanimation of life itself. I never cried after reading a book, but this? It touches you in a way no person can explain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Love Story I fell in love with this movie after watching it the day it came out so I had to read the book. I was a little disappointed that many of my favorite things about the movie were either different or not in the book at all. But it was still a great novel and the letters that Noah gives Allie which you never get to see unless you read the book made this novel great for me. I would still reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys a good cry and great love story.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The movie by far beats the book I made quite an effort to find this book as it was sold out everywhere and now I'm totally disappointed with it. Acting and photography light up the story in the movie but the book only has words that are unfortunately not up to par. I found the writer's style too dry and too simple. It reads like a cheap airport novel. Short sentences, banal words and a cheesy love scene.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great tale... I never believed in fairy tales, I'm sure you don't either. This book is not a fairy tale, but is so magical that it feels too good to be true.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PAGE TURNER! I started reading it once I got it and I couldn't put it down at all. Its gripping from the very beginning to the end. And it all works out in the end. I don't even like romance stories, and I loved The Notebook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing This is an amazing book, and the movie is spectacular. It is a true work of art and shows young romance in a way that usually can not be brought to the reader in such light. Read the book, see the movie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet Romance Honestly, I don't usually read romantic books; But when I heard it was one of those books you just got to read, I gave it a try.... And it actually shocked me, it was so sweet & romantic!! I really love this book, can't wait to see the movie & probably own it too! I can't believe a man actually wrote this book though,(no offence) But i give him a lot of credit... He really knows a woman's point of view!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So romantic! I loved this book so much. A lot of people say its boring, but i disagree completely. I cried from the middle to the end. The authors choice in words was amazing, im sure if it was writting by anyone else it wouldnt be as good. The use of poetry is very good. Amazing book over all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A MUST READ Well, I heard about the story from the movie preview, and thought it should be a interesting reading, and so I bought the book. It turned out to be one of the most amazing book I've ever read. It has the plainest language, but on the other hand, the most romantic story. The hard choices lay in front of the two characters are hard, and almost impossible to make. One sentence completely conclude the sadness of the story, always together, forever apart. Maybe it's just because of the imcomplete, and the hope in the miracle will always happen in the end encourage people to read the story. I recommand this book to all the people looking for an inspiring story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful I'm definitely not a romantic - anyone that knows me will tell you that! And I'm not big on mushy gushy love stories but this book really caught my heart! A Walk to Remember was the first and only movie to make me cry, while The Notebook was the first book that made me cry! The story keeps switching from happiness and bliss to sadness and tragedy. A modern Romeo & Juliet love story! I haven't finished it yet but I am really anticipating the end! I hope anyone who hasn't already read it, soon will! Cris

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent!! I found that this book is very well written. I have read many books in my life, and although this isn't the best book i've read, it was very well written and very good. I loved reading it very much. Although, i find that the book would've been better without the, well, love making part. I would be just as good if it had kissing and more senses instead of memories from their past time together. All in all this is a great book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Friends Standing in Line to Read This One I bought this book for my mum (age 80) Christmas 2000. 3 in the family have now read it! No one could put it down (you just have to find out who she chooses) and we all had a good cry. Excellent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Notebook I have never read a book that has brought me to tears or made me want to go back to page one and start again. Now I have. Nicholas Sparks touched me deeply with his writing, I can't stop thinking about the love between the two characters. To experience such a love is truly a miracle, even if only to witness it. I look forward to his future writings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Radiant Love I've read this book three times so far. The first time I read it, halfway through it I had to leave from reading it in bed - didn't want to wake up my wife from crying. This example of love touched me deeply, to know that love can endure all things to the very end is amazing. To have a person you love read this book is to show all your love for them. Buy this book !!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Touched my heart I read this book three times, each time crying my eyes out! This is by far the best book I have ever read! I am an O.T student, and I have volunteered at nursing homes, so it touched my heart in a special way. I have praised this book to all of my friends! I think anyone who works in healthcare should add this to their list of books to read! I am now always on the lookout for Nicholas Sparks' new books!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Outstanding Love Story Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. Nicholas Sparks captured the essence of endless love. His portrayal of daily living in an extended care facility and dealing with the physical effects of old age was heart wrenching. This is a wonderful, sensitive account of a life time marriage where the love endured the hard times. Thank you for a good cry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sweet Have you heard that public address on the radio lately? You hear the voice of a man saying his wedding vows. He begins the normal way, "I take you, Helen..." But then he goes on to say that he will never leave her, even when her memories are gone and the woman he knows no longer exists. When I first heard it, I smiled and sighed. That, I thought, was love. And I immediately thought of Nicholas Sparks' The Notebook. This novel is not your run-of-the-mill boy meets girl love story. Like the public address, it is about the kind of love that endures everything, even Alzheimer's. Even as my cynical brain hollered, "Gosh, this book is so corny!", my heart cried itself out. Although The Notebook was Sparks' debut novel, it is far better than either Message in a Bottle or A Walk to Remember--two "love stories" that lacked any depth at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Notebook This book is a wonderful story. I was amazed that a man could write with so much compassion! Everyone should read the book as it gives so much meaning to love and life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The power of true love One of the most inspiring and powerful love stories to be put to paper, The Notebook makes you appreciate the loves in your own life. Let me sum it up this way... 3 a.m. lying on the floor with my cat and a box of kleenex and just having a good soulful sob over the power of love and the power of loving words shared betwwen two people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The notebook, my review I have to start by saying The Notebook was the first book that ever touched my heart. I used to read books just for the sake of reading, I didn't get all that caught up in the story or characters. But when I read this story I couldn't help myself. It brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. It taught me so much about respecting my elders. Knowing that they once were young and vibrant like me. The love this couple shared was enormous, and anyone who has every had an experience with someone with alzhiemers disease will see how the memories that are true to a persons heart never go away. Some times they may not be able to communicate it but they remember love always

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Read!! This was a truly enjoyable experience. The Note Book lets us experience a little bit of the true life long love we all wish we knew. The role of the man who lost his love to Alzheimbers desease is quite accurate and hits home to anyone who works with those effected by this awful disease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Book! I have never in my life read a book in one night until this one. This book captures all the things we could ever hope love could be whether they happen for real or not, does it matter? This book made me laugh out loud and cry endlessly, I have made every woman in my life read it, and they all have the same feelings I do. Good Work Mr. Sparks!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You've got to be kidding I just read the previous reviews and I can't believe it. All this book is is a glorified Harlequin Romance. This story is about teenage love that seldom lasts into adulthood when all the parties involved wake up and smell the coffee! Admittedly so, I hope that my spouse is a devoted to me as Noah is to his ailing wife. Heart strings were pulled but no tears... I believe that the love that they share can exist but I still couldn't buy the sentimentality. I was very disappointed that my book club decided to read this. It was a waste of time. An easy read but a waste. Sorry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Notebook Never has a book captured in my mind the true meaning of love. This book was by far the best example. When my children ask me what is true love, I will share this story with them. This is a book to keep by the bedside and pick it as often as possible to remind yourself it does exsist. I can't wait for more from Nicholas Sparks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow I start a book and it rarely holds my interest. This one I could NOT put down. The book expresses what we all yearn for in life. Passion, dreams come true and undying love. The tears did not stop......

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An honest, open story of love This is the best novel I have picked up in years! Sparks tells his story so openly, honestly and with such simplicity. At times, I struggled to read Sparks words through the tears they brought to my eyes. If anyone has ever truly loved another...this book will touch the deepest part of your heart and soul.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Modern Classic In this novel, Sparks draws the reader into his imagination; the sights, smells, and emotions of the world of Noah and Allie are flawlessly translated into the language of the heart. The feelings of both the young and the aged couple are impeccably portrayed, with one underlying theme: that love, longing, and happiness are the provinces of the heart at any age.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Notebook Without a question this is the most hauntingly beautiful novel I've read in years! The story (based on fact) concerns itself with the power of enduring love and devotion while facing Alzheimer's disease. So sensitively written, 'tis certain to bring tears to the eyes of even the most insensitive reader. I sobbed my way through this endearing tale. Definitely an emotional read, one I shall never forget.
