Why you've never been able to lose weight, and how that can change now

Everything you believe about how to lose weight is wrong. Weight gain and obesity are driven by hormones-in everyone-and only by understanding the effects of insulin and insulin resistance can we achieve lasting weight loss.

In this highly readable and provocative book, Dr. Jason Fung sets out an original, robust theory of obesity that provides startling insights into proper nutrition. In addition to his five basic steps, a set of lifelong habits that will improve your health and control your insulin levels, Dr. Fung explains how to use intermittent fasting to break the cycle of insulin resistance and reach a healthy weight-for good.

"Fung zeroes in on why insulin resistance has become so prevalent and offers specific outside-the-box solutions that have emerged as the key to maximizing health."-Jimmy Moore, author, Keto Clarity and Cholesterol Clarity

Dr. Jason Fung is recognized as one of the world's leading experts on fasting for weight loss and diabetes reversal, and his work has been featured in outlets such as the Atlantic, the New York Post, Forbes, the Daily Mail, and Fox News. He is the author of several books, including The Complete Guide to Fasting (co-authored with Jimmy ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes Total Sense I would highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to have a better understanding of why it is so hard to loose weight AND keep it off. Easy to read, clear message, but somewhat repetitive, however the repetition does not retract from the book's message.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A quick history of obesity in North America This book has a lot of good insights as to why obesity has become so prevalent in North America the past 50 years. It contains many explanations as to why our assumptions as to why people get fat are largely false. For example, many people believe that in order to lose weight, people must "eat less, move more". However, this is largely false and Dr. Fung explains why. And Dr. Fung is one of the first doctors to recommend intermittent fasting as a weight loss strategy. Dr. Fung provides some technical theory behind his explanations, however, he doesn't explain it with enough detail for it to mean anything to the layperson.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Book Its so interesting to read because it makes you accountable on how much sugar and fat are in food items. I just ordered the book today. Right now I am borrowing it from the library until my own copy arrives for me. It really makes me think of all the sugary foods and I am thinking do I want that. Now I don't mis the sugary and fat junk at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So informative If you have tried all the diets like I have and keep coming back to a heavier weight, this book is the best one I have found to explain why. I have changed my diet completely since reading this, getting rid of all sugars and for me wheat, and finally the pounds are coming off. A bit technical in parts but written by a highly respected Ontario doctor who specializes in Diabetes and kidney function. An excellent book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent - a full explanation about our struggle with weight Dr. Fung discounts myth after myth and provides a common sense approach to dealing with our obesity and subsequent diabetes epidemic. This is the first time that I have read a "diet" book from the first page to the last! He has a no nonsense approach - no gimmicks, nothing tricky here except using common sense and paying attention to what numerous studies are already telling us (and we haven't been listening). I have been recommending this book to everyone that I know that has struggled with losing weight. I am very grateful that he was able to put it all into a readable book, it might just be a lifesaver........
