Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly Enjoyed! I really liked this collection! There are 9 stories, namely: The Sagebrush Bride by Amanda Cabot, Beckoned Hearts by Melanie Dobson, Shanghaied by the Bride by Pam Hillman, Settled Hearts by Myra Johnson, As Good as Gold by Amy Lillard, Daughters of the Wind by DiAnn Mills, His Frontier Family by Anna Schmidt, State of Matrimony by Ann Shorey and Sioux Summer by Jennifer Uhlarik. Shanghaied by the Bride and Daughters of the Wind were my favourites. The first one had a funny plot line and great character chemistry. The second one was truly inspiring and really explored the crueler hardships that people could have experienced on the Oregon Trail. This collection was very informative as well. Since all 9 stories take place either on or around the trail, with every story I read I had a clearer picture of what the journey looked like and what places people would need to pass. Collections like these that are themed around a setting are interesting because you return to the same setting in your mind (like Independence Rock or Fort Laramie) but with different characters and circumstances. It gave me an idea of what the Wagon Masters and scouts must have felt like as they made the trip every year with a new wagon train. Pioneers and frontier families were really quite incredible people. Stories like these give me even more respect for them. If you're looking for a great collection of historical Christian romances, I recommend this one! It's full of faith-filled stories with great characters, great chemistry and interesting information.
