His is the kind physician's probe, The father's chastening rod, That heals the suffering mourner's sore, And brings him back to God! Then, oh my soul do thou return Unto thy quiet rest, Nor longer be, by darksome doubts, Nor anxious fears opprest; Know, though dark clouds environ thee, And tempests thee appal, That He, who rides upon the storm, Is mightier than them all!
