Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my all-time favorites This book was read to me when I was in the first grade. I am now 21, and still feel that this is one of my favorite stories. My boyfriend bought the hardcover version of this book for me last Christmas, and I know it is a book that I will read to my children one day. Even after all this time, I remember this story very clearly, and everyone I know who has read it has come away with a really warm feeling inside. I definitely recommend this story to those who are a "kid at heart", and love Christmas not for it's material present-giving components, but for what Christmas is supposed to be about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Santa's not just for kids! What a wonderful story that reminds everyone that Santa exists to everyone that believes in him. It's also a wonderful reminder that Santa is more than a guy in a big red suit.

Read from the Book

"On Christmas Eve, many years ago, I lay quietly in my bed. I did not rustle the sheets. I breathed slowly and silently. I was listening for a sound -- a sound a friend had told me I'd never hear -- the ringing bells of Santa's sleigh. 'There is no Santa,' my friend had insisted, but I knew he was wrong. Late that night I did hear sounds, though not of ringing bells. From outside came the sounds of hissing steam and squeaking metal. I looked through my window and saw a train standing perfectly still in from of my house."Copyright (C) 1985 by Chris Van Allsburg. All rights reserved.
