The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club is Charles Dickens’s first novel. Charles Dickens was an English social critic and writer. He is considered as the greatest novelist of the Victorian Era. Dickens created plenty of interesting characters, which were popular during his lifetime and are still popular nowadays. His success started from the publication of The Pickwick Papers. Dickens was asked by the publisher William Hall to contribute to the project as a writer. The illustrator Robert Seymour was creating a series of pictures about a group of people, members of which were hunting or fishing sometimes. Dickens’s task was to describe their adventures on the basis of the artist’s illustrations. Every character is drawn comically, all of them are really memorable.
