"Heartbreakingly real…a remarkable novel about the power of first love and the courage it takes to face your fears." —Kami Garcia, #1 New York Times bestselling author
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes a riveting story about friendship, survival and finding your voice.

Growing up, Mallory Dodge learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it’s been four years since her nightmare ended, she’s beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime. Now, after years of homeschooling, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at a public high school. But she never imagined she’d run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn’t seen since childhood, on her very first day.
It doesn’t take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet soon it becomes apparent that she’s not the only one grappling with lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider’s life spiral out of control, Mallory must make a choice between staying silent and speaking out—for the people she loves, the life she wants and the truths that need to be heard.

"This book blew me away, completely. Gripping from page one, I—quite literally—couldn’t put it down."
—Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Story This was such a beautiful story of a girl with a troubled past. At some points it dragged on, but the author did a great job of making the reader fall in love with the characters. Great summer read!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Book According to my daughter, this has a great story and she did an assignment for school on this book. It does a have bit of a mature content though, especially for it to be considered a teen novel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It Was Good... The novel was not overwhelmingly great to me, but so many people love this novel, that I feel that there is something wrong with me for not absolutely loving it. The story is good, but there are areas that lag quite a bit. Overall this novel is thought provoking and challenges some perceived social norms and tropes often found in YA romance/contemporary novels. I would recommend this novel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So in love This book is amazing. It is something that I would definitely read again. The plot, as well as the characters were really well developed in my opinion. The way Rider cares for Mallory is the type of relationship we all wish we had. Definitely worth the read

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Book This book is very different than the rest of Jennifer L. Armentrout's books. It's much more mature and touches on some really interesting topics like adoption and anxiety. The book looks long but it was really fast paced as many Jennifer L. Armentrout books are. If you liked Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon I would high suggest reading this book!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing book My only issue with it was the delays in writing. Hard to explain when you haven't read it yet, but basically this character has extreme anxiety with speaking or being heard. So when she speaks, she of course has these pauses in her sentences. However, it is done in her thinking as well which I find makes it a little hard to read and follow. I constantly felt myself having to reread the sentences because the ellipses between every so many words would throw me off. I thoroughly enjoyed the book aside from that though! Amazing characters and writing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from favourite Jennifer L. Armentrout book to date Wow. I am speechless. This may be my favourite Jennifer L. Armentrout book to date. The Problem with Forever deals with mental illness and child abuse. Both the main characters, Mallory and Rider, were abused as children in a foster home. Rider would take care of Mallory as much as he could despite not being able to take care of himself. But when something horrible happens at the foster home, Mallory and Rider are separated and not reunited into 4 years later. What makes this book so great is the writing. Armentrout has time and time again shown she has very diverse writing styles. She can write in a laid back, sarcastic, and funny way, but she can also write in a more serious and poetic way. The Problem with Forever falls under the latter. She crafted such a bleak and horrifying past for two unbelievable characters. Mallory is healing and doing the best she can with what tools she has and Rider is doing what he can to not become a product of his surroundings. Mallory and Rider together was my favourite part of this book. They compliment each other in so many different ways. And they continue to compliment each other throughout the entire book, even in ways they don't realize. Books about mental illness and abuse are always hard to read. Both are subjects most authors shy away from because they don't create a stereotypical light hearted story. Armentrout's ability to handle these subjects with ease and precision is what makes these subjects easy to digest, while being informative. Bringing light to darker subjects are what erases stigma and The Problem with Forever does just that. Overall, The Problem with Forever is probably one of my favourite Jennifer L. Armentrout books. It's insightful, poetic, funny, and heavy. It's a book that poses questions and demands answers. It's a book that brings light to an otherwise dark corner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Amazing! Worth the read! I bought the book thinking it would be great but it has greatly exceeded any expectations I had. Not only is the story unique and interesting but the writing is great and keeps you interested. I was worried this book would take me a long time to read due to it's size but I read it in 7 days. I was unable to put this book down and would sit down for hours to read it. If you have the chance take the time to read this fantastic book. I can't wait till Jennifer L. Armentrout puts out another YA novel!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Favorite of the Year! The Problem with Forever has to be one of the best books Jennifer has ever written. I could talk about this book for a long time because I loved every little thing about it from the relationships, friendships, setting, family and love plus all the characters: Rider, Mallory, Jayden, Hector and many more! I couldn't put the book down because it just drew me in from the first page! Jennifer does not shy away from anything when she writes. It was raw and emotional that even I was crying by the end because the characters feel real and once you read Mallory's story you will understand how many emotions there are to the story. I have also suffered some anxiety since a few years ago and I can tell you that you that this book brings out more awareness and was realistic that I was beginning to identify with Mallory because I am shy as well. Jennifer wrote about a real situation, a broken girl who overcomes the challenges in her life. It was great seeing her growth throughout the book. The chemistry in this book between Rider and Mallory could possibly break your heart as well as want to make Rider your book boyfriend. I'm not going to give too much away! But you will fall in love with Rider as well. There is many swoon worthy moments that you will make you blush. The Problem with Forever is a must read! It can leave your speechless. The writing was amazing as always. This is why Jen is my favorite author and read all her books immediately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best YA Novel This Year! I don't say this lightly, but this is the best YA novel this year! When I originally read the synopsis I wasn't sure how the book would be, but it pleasantly surprised me. The Problem with Forever is simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming, and I fell in love with the characters. Mallory "Mouse" is struggling to find her voice, while Rider is simply trying to survive. This novel is about hope, and tells the story that your past doesn't have to define your future. Fantastic read!
