Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good book... and that's coming from a feminist! I've always considered myself to be somewhat of a feminist, where equality reigns in our household. But something about this book intrigued me, so I purchased it. Wow. This book was a wake-up call to me. While not a fan of Dr. Laura (I disagree with a lot of her opinions), I admit that she makes some great notes in most of her chapters. While some of the book wasn't useful to me (as we do have a pretty good relationship in those areas), the chapters on intimacy and support/appreciation were especially important. She makes some really great points that relate to all women. That said, there were a few things I didn't agree with. But if you take the book for what it is and keep an open mind, any wife will probably get a lot out of it. You really have to look at it with the right mind and don't think every single piece of advice is going to work for everyone. Even feminists can get something out of this book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Relationship Book Around This book is the best relationship book I have read in years and I have read many. It truly takes the focus away from I or me... and puts the focus on We. Which in a relationship is probably a good thing. In a world where everything is about Me Time, girls weekend and time away it is a breath of fresh air to see that happy people in healthy, respectful relationships do not require that. It is not all about "ME" even though society drives us to believe that. It is honorable and comendable to put the people we love before ourselves. I love how this book shows you that you were a couple before you had children so you must nurture that after that. It is a great refresher for people who perscrible to this way of living and a great awakener to those who do not. Do you want to be happy or right? I choose happy and I think Dr Laura has done a great service in writing this book for modern woman and showing us that we don't have to be superwoman and do it all to be valued. We just have to be a great wife, friend and Mom and keep what matters close and dump the rest. This book was great at showing us the male side of things... and funny how it is so true. Although it did come off as being a little harder on the female perspective it is when you look down deep true. And really doesn't the truth hurt sometimes. A great, fast read and a definate recommended read for 100% of the hetrosexual population.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Something to Think About I read about this book on a website and picked it up for a lark. I didn't know too much about Dr. Laura other than she is very opinionated and somewhat "anti-feminist." WARNING: if you are a staunch feminist, don't get this book, you will likely be offended! Me, I read it with an open mind, and I have to say, she makes a good case for separate roles for men and women and a need to return to more traditional values. Her point is that women today have become over-extended and thus more demanding on their husbands, leading to nagging and bitterness. She says men are simple creatures, wired differently, and would be happy if they were treated to a well-cared-for wife, a hot meal, and sex on a regular basis. O.K., sounds a little condescending, but come on, admit it, it's so true! Some may miss the point and see this book as a how-to to be a Stepford Wife, but the bottom line is that there would be fewer break-ups if couples just learned to step out of their selfishness and commit to their partnership by doing things willingly for each other. Dr. Laura has a very easy to read writing style, and the book is full of real-life examples of calls to her radio show. I think women will either embrace this book or hate it. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and I suspect you will too.
