‘Truly exquisite large pictures tell a sweet story of two little rabbits who lived ‘happily ever after’ in the friendly forest.’ —CS. ‘Will delight the youngest ones. . . . Of unusual beauty.’ —SLJ.

Garth Williams began his work on the pictures for the Little House books by meeting Laura Ingalls Wilder at her home in Missouri, and then he traveled to the sites of all the little houses. His charming art caused Laura to remark that she and her family "live again in these illustrations."

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from masterpiece In this universal, inspiring, loving, compassionate, yet funny and down right adorable story, everything works together, the words, the dialogue, the illustrations made at the peak of Garth williams' amazing talent, using his unique technique of wash and dry medium, reminiscent more than a little of the best of Chinese brush painting, exemplary of his ability to express the deepest shades of the human(rabbit's) soul. What's not to love?
