Rated 4 out of 5 by from Superb series though with iffy translation When I first saw this series listed, I was intrigued enough to order the first few volumes at once. The English translation is iffy, with a lot of homonyms and some poor grammar, and while the books are bulky, the font size and paper thickness means you aren't getting that much for your dollar compared with many popular novels like Tom Clancy or Rowling. However, if you give the series a chance, the main characters and his party really grow on you. The main character starts off enthusiastic but soon becomes cynical and full of hate and thoughts of revenge after he is betrayed by everyone. He gradually begins to open up again with his one and only party member, who quickly begins to understand him. In this volume, Naofumi and his party get back from Glass's world and start to investigate the disappearance of many of the survivors from Raphtalia's village. He learns someone else has been secretly buying up the enslaved children, and enters a tournament to earn the money to buy as many as he can. However, the tournament is rigged against him and he finds the person who gave him tips is an enemy - or is she? Looking forward to the next volume.
