about

In 2130, civilization, at least one that ran on electricity and technology, had been over almost one hundred years. The cause of this was not known, but Jake Harper was one of the few surviving; tough, wily and marked by his past. Working mainly as a bounty hunter and a catcher of escaped slaves, in a country now filled with empty towns and cities, his life changes when he snags a cute escaped girl slave of fifteen named Elena. After spending weeks in a disastrous attempt to return her to her distant family, they wander back to Jake’s old home in the former Georgia.

Jake’s experience with women had mostly been with the young whores, who worked hard to scrape out a living in a world that needed them, but still looked down on them. This left him unprepared for a young woman like Elena. That a couple of the whores, who worked for Jake’s brother in his bar/restaurant/whorehouse, found Elena’s resistance towards Jake to be mostly amusing and doomed eventually helped make her reconsider her desires, and surrender to him.

Elena’s stubborn determination eventually wears him down too, and he agrees to return to Howards Refuge, with the help of his brothers and others, to wipe out the slavers. Jake had been reluctant to be married at all, and is doubly amazed to find himself married to two women! A strong tale of survival, growth and healing set in a future few would be eager to experience.
Romantic adventure, shockingly rich and sexy
