Rated 5 out of 5 by from If Marvel had only thought about it.... Ok, I have to say that at first the book did not appeal too much to me, I saw it there on the shelf at the book store a couple of times and always chose something else. When I bought it, I did because Kim Harrison, Charleine Harris and Kelley Armstrong were all over the cover saying how cool it was, of course, all of them are harper colins writers so you can`t take too much from there, but if you can`t trust your favorite writers to recommend you a nice reading, ohhh well. The book sat on my night table for weeks and I kick myself for not reading it earlier! LOVED IT! If you like comics get ready for the ride because the Zodiac troop 175 is nonstop super hero action from beginning to end... no, there are no werewolves, vampires or exacerbated romance, but every Clark kent needs his Lois Lane, and so does Joanne Archer...the books are great, if you're one of those who enjoyed The Spirit or The Watchmen, this is a treat you don`t wanna pass.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thrilling What I really loved about this book is that it never went in the direction I thought it would. There were numerous twists and curves and after a while I just stopped guessing and enjoyed the ride. I'll admit that the beginning of the story didn't quite grab me, but now that I'm done reading I am impatiently waiting for my chance to read the second book in the series. I really liked the world that Pettersson has created, including the war between light and dark. The whole idea of these Agents of Light referring to themselves as "superheroes" and their actions being displayed in actual comic books was a nice twist too. The characters in "The Scent of Shadows" are all very interesting, each with their own flushed out personalities and intertwined pasts and futures. The main character, Joanna Archer, is probably one of the best female characters I've come across, simply because she embraces the fact that she isn't perfect but still tries her best anyway. Pumped full of action, betrayal, drama, and a little gore and swearing, this book is sure to take you on a thrilling ride through a secret world where everything is cast in shades of grey.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If Comic Books Were Novels This is a brilliant cross between "superheroes" and supernaturals. I actually found myself quite interested in the lore included in the story whereas sometimes I just skip over reading too much into it. The characters also seem to have great chemistry between them. I loved Joanna's growth and her interaction with Hunter. This is one series I'm definitely getting into.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What!?!? Wow. What a horrible first attempt at a novel...this book is brimming with intriguing ideas, which makes you hopeful, and the author goes nowhere with them. Nothing really happens, nothing is really resolved, the dialogue is LAME, the main character isn't even terribly likeable, in short, it's pretty much a waste of time. Read something else.
