Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Great book. The movies are such inaccurate representations of the series. It's like taking a nice sandwich, carving out a small moldy piece and giving you that piece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book deserved more credit. I honestly loved this book. It was a great sequel to the first and had an all over amazing plot. The book and the series were ruined for readers because of the movie. I know a lot of people who avoid reading this series simply because they watched the movie. Trust me, the movie was horrible, especially compare to the book, which it had absolutely nothing related to. So if you are one of those people, then read the books.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sequel I loved The Sea of Monsters. It's a short, fun read that does a good job of introducing more mythology, more lovable characters, and more excitement for what's in store in the later books.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Demigods Working Together While the last book focused on Percy's, Annabeth's and Grover's quest, this book is somewhat different. We still have the inseparable trio going on an adventure together (or, at least, Percy and Annabeth starting out together and Grover joining in later), but this time, they're not the focal point of the quest. Another demigod of Camp Half-Blood has visited the Oracle and received the prophecy, but while she gets the credit for completing the quest, she does have help from Percy and Annabeth. It's nice to see Riordan giving new depth and personality to his characters by having them work together to help one another, rather than splitting them off into the typical camper clichés - bully, smart girl, troubled boy, etc. I very much enjoyed this book and am eager to continue on with the series.
Date published: 2017-06-04
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Somewhat ruined the movie for me, but I still love them both! There's one scene in the book that I so desperately wanted to see the movie re-create ... and they didn't, which made me sad. But this review is about the book, and I absolutely loved the book (even more so than the first one!).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great book, but not as good as the first one This book has a bit of a slow start, but once it gets into a rhythm, it's just as funny and action-packed as the first one. #plumreviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as good I really enjoyed this series. Like the Harry Potter books, I can't say which one of these I liked the best, they all had their strengths and flaws and slow eye-rolling moments, but all-in-all great books! This book was decidedly not as good as the first, but still the series is worth it.

Date published: 2017-05-06
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good book! I found that this second book wasn't as good as The Lightning Thief. It was still good, it just wasn't at the same level. It was also repetitive because it follows the same format more or less. However, it was still a great story and all the characters you love from the first book are still there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing This book is absolutely wild which makes it 10000000 times more amazing. This book really raises the stakes and adds on greatly to the previous Percy Jackson book. As someone who personally love mythology this gets better and better. I know most of the myths incorporated into Riordan's work which makes me appreciate his excellent storytelling and see the fantastic job he did at fitting these myths into the story. he writing is fantastic because it is so significantly clear that this plot is so massive and the story really is just beginning especially with that plot twist at the end I am like :O !! If you love unexpected plot twists this series really is for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Absolutely Great" This is a really great story by Rick Riordan. The novel is a thrilling story that actually made me read into the night. I finished it in a week, but I HAD to pick up book 3 because I just couldn't get enough of the books. Listen, believe it or not, but this is actually way better then Harry Potter. Rick Riordan and his chilling novel about mythology made everything absolutely great. TheBookReviewer

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2nd book in series - much better Camp Half-Bloods are in danger, but there are things around him (monsters and secrets) that have to present themselves. Mission Impossible: get the Gold Fleece, but Percy and his friends will encounter some crazy challenges and old friends (or fren-emies). Though made for a good light afternoon read with adventure and Greek mythology lesson. Enjoyed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty good! This book wasnt the best in the series but still it was pretty good to my standards. Although the quest wasnt the most adventurous, it still was exciting. It was unpredictable so it just made you read more. It ended in a HUGE cliffhanger, and so you are left DYING to read the next book!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great if you're 8... So given what this book is I would say it's probably a great read if you're a grade five student. If however you're almost 30 and looking for a series of books to replace that gaping hole left in your heart where Harry Potter used to be, than prepare to be disappointed. There's not much depth in character development, and the writing has a childish feel to it, I just don't really feel that it's the kind of book that both children and adults can pick up and be enthralled by (ie. not like HP or Chronicles of Narnia) I found the book entertaining but definitely not a page turner. I wouldn't recommend it (unless you're 8 and then go nuts) and I wouldn't re-read it, and I won't buy the 3rd book in the series. The book basically feels like it's only written for the author to cash in, not because he cares about putting out good work. And one thing that really turned me off, Rick Riordan thought it would be funny to start referring to some cannibalistic monsters in the book as Canadians, not cool. So yeah Rick Riordan and his cash grab books will be staying off of my shelves.
Date published: 2010-06-23
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even better... Another cute, fast pace adventure that was even better than the first book. This book jumped right into the adventure since the background was already established and Riordan didn’t feel the need to recap everything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots Of Adventure This is the first book I've read in this series and I'm sure that I will read the rest. Rick Riordan did an amazing adventure story that I really enjoyed reading. Not much for fantasy books but this one really had me hooked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it!! I read the first book and wanted more! So much drama, excitment, and I had to read the rest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Charming Twist i was introduced to this book simply by the preview of the movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the lightning thief. having read the first book i had to read the second book! i didn't know what to expect from this novel but was pleasantly surprised by the story. it was a constant twist and kept the reader engaged. Rick Riordan has described the characters emotions so well that you feel empathetic for him as he struggles throughout the book. yet he didn't take away from the story. i found it was highly enjoyable and very appropriate for a younger audience, there where certain parts that i felt the author was trying to connect to his older audience without making it inappropriate. Overall i would suggest this book to anyone who loves Greek mythology, seeing that it is centered around Greek gods. even though i found some of the information incorrect i still enjoyed the history that was put into this novel/ series. it truly is a one of a kind story and very easy to read, without being short of detail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing prequel to the first book! *bit of a spoil alert* Percy is back in this next novel, and boy did it not dissapoint. Again, Riodan takes you an an amazing journay that is fast paced and exciting that grabs you from the first 5 pages, and just never lets you go. This time, however, Percy is finally almost finishing his school he has been attending for almsot a year, but just as everything seems to be going right, things take a turn for the worst. Percy ends up on a journey towards the Sea of Monsters on a journey you won't forget! it won't disappoint!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Sea Of Monsters Good book, but not as good as the first one. Percy Jackson is a Demi-god. At Camp Half-Blood Percy's having dreams about his friend Grover, who is on a guest to find Pan (the god of the wild). in the dreams Grover is in trouble, in a cave in the Sea Of Monsters. Percy find out that the dreams are accually message from Grover, that hes in trouble. Percy and Annabeth go out on a quest to find and save Grover. There is many problems on the way, but Percy and Annabeth get through them with help from Percy's half brother Tyson, A Cylcops. 2010-007

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Herculean Tale! In the second book of the Percy Jackson series we're treated to a few new faces, some hideous, but all are fantastic! Grover is off in his search of Pan, God of the Wild, Percy is managing to attend another new school having managed to spare himself and his friends from the wrath of the Gods in the first book. He's taking his new lease on life in stride, keeping his eyes out for the monsters with his trusty Riptide at his side. Things seem to be going well, Percy think he might actually last the whole school year without being expelled, and he even has a new school chum, a tall, scraggly homeless kid by the name of Tyson. Tyson's not so very bright but he's got a heart of gold and the innocence of a toddler. Not to mention he thinks the world of Percy! Now if being attacked by his old Math teacher who turned out to be a Fury from the Underworld wasn't bad enough, things take another twist when Percy's in gym class for a friendly game of dodgeball and the opposing side turns out to be a gang carnivorous monsters! If that wasn't bad enough, Percy's getting strange dreams where Grover's in trouble! Trapped on an island in the middle of Bermuda Triangle. If Percy doesn't save him quickly Grover's out to lunch and he'll be the main course! If it's not one thing, it's another for Percy Jackson. He can't seem to catch a break and the Gods don't seem like their going to throw him any bones in the near future. It's another mythical adventure for our young friend, high flying and action packed, you won't want to miss this crazy ride of uber fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Sea Of Monsters This book is great. If you ask me personally, I would have said that the book isnt as good as the other ones, but it is still ausome. Percy and their friends have to find Grover, the Satyr before its too late and the Cyclops Marries him.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Book of The Century Reviewed by Grade 5 student Ben M. This book is extremely suited for all ages. It includes many Greek myths. It caught my attention just by the style of the text. I've read many of Rick Riordan's other novels and this is one of the best. Many books include humour or battles or mysteries: this book has all of that and more. While I was reading it I recognized many Greek myths. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a good read.
