Rated 5 out of 5 by from Riveting. I could not put this book down. I have to agree that "Snow Flower and The Secret Fan" was an amazing book, but this one also held my attention quite closely. I borrowed it from the library and decided I needed to own it. I found the fates of the girls to be well adjusted, given the circumstances and the traits of the characters. A surprisingly extraordinary read.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I was looking forward to reading this book. However, when I neared to about 100 pages near the end, the book because absolutely unreadable. I never even finished it, I was so disappointed. The fates that befall these girls are truly unrectified, and in the end, there seems to be no reason for it. If you're interested in the secret language of Chinese women, read "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See. It's far better than this one.
