Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing My friend gave me this book to read and honestly I wasn't very excited to read it. Although, when I started to read I couldn't even set the book down! Love the characters, the plot, and the whole book! Definitely one of my favourites!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMG This is the all time best book ever!!! It took me only 2 days to finish reading it, i couldn't put it down! I was so excited to continue reading the rest of the series

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good book I really liked this book! Although it isn't realistic at all it was cute, funny and enjoyable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS BOOK I love all the characters in this book. I laughed, cried, got mad with the characters. It was very detailed and relatable in some, if not all, aspects of the experience the characters felt. I believe this series was one of the very first books that got me back into reading and for that I love it. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my absolute favorite series I've read this entire series quite a few times and absolutely love it every time. The story line is addictive, and even after reading it multiple times I still get chills at some parts. I recommend this book ad the entire series a hundred times over!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Addictive and great characters! I read this book in less than a day. Then I re-read it, and re-read it until the second one came (that I ordered asap). I didn't really, personally relate to America (the main character) that much but the story is enthralling! The supporting characters are incredibly layered and truly interesting. The selection truly pulls you in! I absolutely recommend this book! I got all my friends to read this and they all loved it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good book! The selection is such a good read but it doesn't have much depth. I read this book so fast because I couldn't put it down! The only problem is that it is predictable and cliche. It's such a fun and light book to read though I would definitely recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly was an amazing series TRUST ME How do I start this? Well, first this book (series) made me laugh, cry, happy, in love and a lot of other emotions. My mom would hear me scream or giggle and asked if I was okay. When you start reading you won't be able to stop, just like me, I didn't stop until I finished, which was at 4:30 in the morning. Trust me when I say that you won't regret ever reading it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING This is one of my favourite books. I've read it so many times, and it never fails to make me smile. Its a nice romantic book, with the added element of a dystopian world and the competition.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not What I Was Expecting I'm not sure why but I was expecting more from The Selection and the idea was a little cliché. I doubt I'll be reading the rest of the series

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! Oh my goodness, I can't say enough good things about this book/this trilogy. It's become one of my favourite books and series to read. It has the right mix of everything: humour, tragedy, suspense, drama, and romance. I had a hard time putting this book down. Kiera Cass' writing has a way of drawing you in and getting you attached. I like to think of this book as The Bachelor gone wild. It's got a similar concept but it's so much more than that and I absolutely love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Must Read!!! I loveeedddd this book and the series so so much. Kiera Cass did such a great job and she made me fall in love with reading all over again. I couldn't put this book down and same with the rest that followed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from why do I love this so much??? Okay, I'm not going to lie, I put off reading this book for a LONG TIME. I guess I just thought that the plot seemed kinda dumb. HOWEVER, upon reading this I realised that this is definitely something that is right up my alley! If this was an actual TV show you bet I'd be watching it! It's like a futureistic bachelor and I love it! This is a super fun read, I was so absorbed and got really really into the love triangle! It gets cheesy in some parts (like most romances) but I'm glad I read it and will definitely be picking up the next one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I loved it! While this wasn't my favorite book of all time, I stayed up until 3AM to finish it. It was interesting enough to pull me in. I found myself pausing, closing the book cover, because the characters made me so emotional. Sometimes the characters made me extremely angry. However, I think the fact that I cared so much is a sign of a good book. I was fully emotionally invested. Had to rush to the store to buy the other 4 books in the series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than expected I've always been curious about The Selection but never checked it out because I was so over the dystopian craze that hit YA back in the day. I didn't consider picking it up until I had a bunch of depressing books in my reading pile that I realized I desperately needed a pick-me-up. My first thought was The Selection because everyone who talks about it says it's a fun, easy, and addicting read where you can just turn your brain off and enjoy. After reading my depressing books, I couldn't be happier that I chose to read The Selection next. Everyone was right. It was fun. America wasn't as annoying as everyone said although I've obviously only read the first book at this point. She did seem to be a perfectly tailored main lead though. She's beautiful but she doesn't know it. She doesn't wear too much makeup or flashy clothing even when she has the chance because it doesn't feel "like herself." She's compassionate towards the lower castes. Like it's all of the perfect qualities an author would instill in their main character so readers would love them automatically. This was a little eye roll-worthy so I'm kind of glad that America was a bit of a brat just to make her seem a little more realistic. I mean, she's like 16. Teenage girls can't be well behaved or saints all the time. She only kinda annoyed me at the end when she was demanding Maxon kick off Celeste because it felt like she was pushing her boundaries and her luck. She grew too comfortable feeling like she could do or say anything she wanted to Maxon, the fucking prince, without consequence. The love triangle between America, Maxon, and Aspen actually doesn't bother me that much. I think it's because Aspen only shows up at the end so it's not like America was a wishy-washy person who had to chose between her old flame and the new flashy rich guy in front of her. But... I guess that's what I'm in store during the next book so I guess my feelings will change soon. The Selection isn't winning any literary awards but it made me happy and it was thoroughly entertaining so that's all I could ever ask for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Definitely a teen book, not for everyone I can’t explain why this book is so good. Its like The Hunger Games meets the bachelor. The story in the beginning and the world reminds me a lot of The Hunger Games with much less violence and much less political intrigue. But the premise of the story is very much like the bachelor. A prince has to choose a bride and the girls that are selected are one from each province and are all labeled by numbers (their caste) much like The Hunger Game Districts. Where the story falls short is the world building and the politics. It’s a little confusing, the history is confusing and things like technology is unclear with how advance it is. I mean it’s clearly advanced... some people have cellphones but how much is unclear.... The premise of the story is not something I’d enjoy... but other people raved about it so I had to read it and I’m very surprised how much I enjoyed it. I literally read it in a day. As in I started Friday morning and finished Friday afternoon. It’s very addicting. It’s a heavy romance book (clearly) but not yucky romance that you can’t stand to read. And the pace of the story is VERY good. Not to fast not to slow. I can’t imagine how it kept me so interested considering it’s about a prince choosing his princess. Really how much can really happen? I suggested trying it out for sure. I’m not a heavy romance reader but I really enjoyed this. I gobbled it up!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty good 3.5 stars Not bad! I wouldn't say that I loved it, but it was definitely entertaining, and a super quick read. Yes, it's essentially the Bachelor in book format, but it does have a bit of interesting worldbuilding and dystopian-esque qualities, with commentaries on wealth, war, poverty, and caste systems. Additionally, with a book centered around 35 girls (plus all the other side characters) it did a good job of establishing each one individually. Enjoyed it overall, but I do think I would have definitely enjoyed it more back in high school. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED IT The fact that I stayed up until 5am in the middle of finals week just to finish this book goes to show how good this book is!!!! It was fun, funny, and very lovable. Although it was a little predictable, I still adored it and I CANNOT wait to read the next book in the series, but for the sake of my grades I will have to put it off until I'm done exams lmao

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a pleasant read To be honest, I didn't know what to expect from this book. It has gained a lot of mixed reviews, but I found it rather enjoyable. The two main characters have such an interesting relationship and I fell in love with both of them. The author does a great job in making everyone realistic, even the side characters have a story, and I really appreciate it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Series Ever From the very first chapter I was addicted. Couldnt put it down at all. Read first 3 books in less than a week. If you are looking for a mix between the Bachelor, Hunger Games and Princess Diaries, look no further. I would love to find my own Maxon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Maxon and America <3 I love the two characters together! There chemistry makes me heart full
Date published: 2018-03-30
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Guilt pleasure read I'm not proud to say I liked this book. It's the type of story that has a predictable plot, characters made for the sake of fulfilling a fantasy, and terrible worldbuilding (this actually annoyed me a lot). But I like the book anyways because it has drama and romance that will make your heart hurt and stomach clench. I'd recommend this to teen/young-adult girls who enjoy romance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this book! The story has so many twists and the story develops in a way that keeps it interesting and you feel connected with the main character, America. Also I love a good book with a strong female lead and she is so headstrong and confident that it was incredible! 10/10 would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW I have read this book quite a few times and it never stops being good. I have lent it to a few friends and family members as well who also love it! Could not put it down
Date published: 2018-03-18
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great! This is pretty much The Bachelor meets The Hunger Games, so I honestly had fun with parts of it. I mean, a bunch of girls from various castes competing for the prince in a dystopian world is going to either be horrible or seriously entertaining. This was both. It's definitely targeted more towards the younger end of YA, though. The main character of America gets really annoying in the sequels (actually, everyone does). But I think we all know what we're in for just by the gorgeous covers: it's going to be a fun, light read. There will be red-haired heroines, angsty love triangles, and every other YA trope possible. Nothing's too serious. And I think that was my problem with the sequels... the author's weak attempts to stick some political analysis or rebel threat into the plot really killed the series. But for now this first book is fun enough!
Date published: 2018-03-18
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommended The second I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. I loved everything about this story. This is a book that I could read over and over again and never get tired of.
Date published: 2018-03-15
Rated 2 out of 5 by from this is the bachelor This book is essentially a dystopian version of the bachelor. Its not great.. but I bought the whole series, hopefully it gets better. So far the characters are for the most part irritating, the story line is predictable and the writing style is mediocre.
Date published: 2018-03-15
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable It is definitely not one of the best books I have ever read, but it is extremely enjoyable nonetheless.
Date published: 2018-03-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intriguing Read You can't help but care about the characters. Once you pick up the book you won't want to put it down. America is a protagonist that you can't help but want to follow along on her journeys. Even though it reminds me of The Bachelor, I find it has much more to it than that. There is an actual story line that gets you hooked. This is one of those books that I like to read when I just want to get away from reality.
Date published: 2018-03-12
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay Okay book, kinda felt like I was reading the bachelor
Date published: 2018-03-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend This book is highly engaging and very enjoyable. The characters are very interesting. The main character America Singer, can be frustrating but at the same time you can't stop caring about what will happen to her. My favourite character was Prince Maxon because there was always so much we were learning about him and his world. I highly recommend this book to all the teenagers. It is a quick read but you will not be able to put it down. One of my favourite books of all time. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never put it down Bachelor in a dystopian world. You don't read this for the world building, just the fluff and the drama and the love. And I love it all
Date published: 2018-02-22
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Selection Although it is quite cliché of how the protagonist is the main interest of the prince because of her stubborn nature, The Selection is a guilty pleasure of mine. I enjoyed how it tried to convey the wrongness of hierarchy and ranks.
Date published: 2018-02-13
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Guilty Pleasure I think I originally started reading this book because I was drawn to the book series on a shelf and I'm a sucker for anything with royalty in it. I would say this would be a guilty pleasure book of mine. Sappy romance, happily ever after love and oh hey here's a princess just to sweeten the deal.
Date published: 2018-01-27
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hooked Got hooked on the series after this read
Date published: 2018-01-18
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent, I Guess I read this book a few years ago when I was within the age demographic it's geared towards and I honestly enjoyed it. Was it the most amazing novel I've ever read? Not by any means, but it was interesting enough to keep my attention and pass the time. The writing is simple, which could be either a good or bad thing, but was good in this case as it allowed me to finish the novel in about two hours. Which leads me to my next point; this is a seriously fast read that doesn't take all that much to get into. The plot moves along quickly and doesn't focus on irrelevant details that do nothing for it. I would have liked to have a little more world-building and information on the characters, especially at the beginning, but I picked up on most of it fairly quickly anyway. It's pretty cliché, as you'd expect from a YA dystopian. Extremely predictable. Fairly two-dimensional characters. That being said, if you go in knowing what you're going to get and not expecting it to be anything more than it is, it's a pretty good read.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ok everyone had been telling me to pick this book up, and I had super high expectations. However, when I actually read it, I realized it was NOT worth it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE A classic love story with a dystopia twist. Loved it throughout the whole book!
Date published: 2018-01-02
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did Not Enjoy Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book. The main character was very annoying. The writing style wasn't good. While the premise was interesting, the execution wasn't. The plotline was very weak, and the relationship between the main characters was unrealistic and so cheesy, I wanted to bang my head against the wall. It was interesting to see the author's interpretation of their idea, but it was poorly executed. I do not recommend this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Book out there for teenage girls when I first bought this book, I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. one of the employees at Indigo actually recommended it to me and told me it was a good book to read. so, when I got home after buying it, I sat down to read it and I honestly could not put it down. the reviews from other authors and such that are on the back of the book are defiantly right when they say its like The Hunger Games & The Bachelor/Bacherlorette without the blood & violence.. if you are into that kind of stuff, and by that I mean The Hunger Games & The Bachelor and The Bachelorette series, I'd defiantly give this a read!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really loved it! I got this book mainly because my friend recommended it to me when I had run out of books to read. I was never into romance, I always loved sci-fi and mystery so I went into the book not expecting much. I was really happy to find that this book is actually really intriguing. It keeps you on your toes with the ups and downs in the relationship and it's an interesting concept.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was ok I loved the story, but I didnt like the love triangle because America kept going back and forth between the 2 men. She's indecisive and kept leading them both on. But I liked the story overall I guess. It depends on what you like. If you enjoy the bachelor then this would be for you.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Got bad I listened to the audio book and I "almost" liked it. The premise was interesting, the characters were surprisingly well written and it actually diverted from the typical YA tropes, at first. I actually really liked the first half, but then it's almost like it devolved into the typical YA tropes and became downright bad. I was torn between not wanting to read the next books but wanting to find out what happened because of the extreme cliff hanger ending (which I also dislike). I settled for reading the summaries of the plots for the next books and I'm glad I did that because I satisfied my curiosity in a concise way without having to slog through the other books. Disappointing because I really wanted to like this one and was looking forward to hours of audio book pleasantness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love!! sure, a lot of people who've read it say it's really cheesy but I am so down for this. sometimes, you just need some angst-y romance with a strong heroine and lots of gowns.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good book, bad series cass sets up what could be a fantastically rich world with complex characters and a quickly changing political landscape but fails to capitalize on those elements. it is basically a dystopian bachelor series. the first book is a nice quick read, the rest of the series isn't worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved This! This book kept me hooked the whole time! My friend lent it to me after not liking it herself, but I LOVED it! The characters were easy to fall in love with and watch how they interacted together. I always wanted more after each chapter and continued to read through it in a few days! A fast paced read but worth the short time none the less to move into the rest of the series! You will love this romantic, giddy and heartfelt book!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing! My teacher had provided my class a few books to choose from to read for five weeks and write essays about. I had picked The Selection. At first, I didn't seem to understand the concept of this book and didn't have much interest. Yet as I read on, I fell more and more in love with the idea of The Selection book and it's characters. As I had mentioned earlier we were assigned to read these books over the course of five weeks, meaning we could not take them home and only read for 40 minutes in-class. As I could not wait to finish, I went home the same night we began reading our books, bought myself a copy of The Selection and finished it in one night. I have finished America's story so far, yet I still need to read about her daughter. This book series would be great for anyone that likes romance, drama and action. You quickly learn to love the characters in this book and will find yourself reading on without being able to put the book down. Great book!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from In love! At first I wasn't sure if I should but it as it kind of seemed like a book about 'The Bachelor' in a sense. But it definitely was worth the buy! I bought the first two just in case I liked the series and now I am done the second one and waiting for the last 3 to be delivered! I wasn't a fan on how short each of the books were but it definitely keeps you hooked!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Selection I am sooo happy I started this series today. I just finished two very deep and thought provoking books that made me cry more than once. I wanted to read something that was going to make me excited, and jump around while reading and get frustrated when things didn't happen how I wanted.. I needed a light hearted book... but this delivered so much more. America is a kick-ass main character. She isn't afraid to speak her mind, even when she should keep her mouth shut. I am firmly on Team Maxon. Holy moly he's perfect. I think it's really sweet how innocent he is towards dating, and I like that things with him and American aren't happening all at once.. it's been slow developing and honest. And Aspen.. while I can't hate the guy in the beginning or even end of this book... he's just going to complicate things haha :) (I'm clearly too invested already). I enjoy books that make me mad and happy and grin like an idiot after finishing a chapter. This book definitely had me doing all theses things, and I am soooo excited to start the next book hopefully tomorrow at work <3 !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boy Oh Boy Was This A Good Book This book gave me too many feels, too many good feels, but still too many feels. There wasn't a moment where I wasn't thoroughly pleased. If I wasn't too busy smiling my face off, I was overly occupied with swooning. This book was unconditionally sweet, and the relationship between the characters was so amazing. I would recommend anyone thinking about reading this book, should DEFINITELY do it, you won't regret it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Thoughtful, Romantic I thought that this book had the vibes of Hunger Games meet the Bachelor, because the book was about a bunch of girls competing for the love of a one royal guy! This book is a definite romance lover and that is why I would recommend it to anyone who loves romance and especially competition for it. It seemed like the main plot line of the story was the romance, and the author tried to include another plot in the backdrop of the story, and it did not really seem to work, as most readers would be focused on the romance, and it seemed like the extra stuff was forcefully added and it did not seem natural. All in all, it is a cute book, however it is for more mature readers as it talks about love and all that. There are more books in the series so it continues on, and Kiera Cass, also writes more stories similar to this one on the topic of love. I think that this book was generally okay, and it would be a good read for people who enjoy romance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favourites! The selection series is one of my favorite series ever! I love reading romance and fantasy, when I had just started reading books, two summers ago, this was one of the series that got me addicted to books. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty good, you'll like if it even if you're 14 or 27 Not just for teens. This is enjoyable to people in their 20s too because of the bachelor-esque nature of it. It is The Bachelor meets the Hunger Games. It is a very easy read and quite the page turner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Book EVER! I first read this book a few months ago, and the second I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. It was that good! I love the fact that the author put a brilliant young woman like America in the spotlight and told her story. It was just perfect! From the beginning I loved America. She's not your typical "I want to be a princess" type of girl, she's the quiet type, but also a strong fighter. In this story, America is chosen to be a Selected in the Selection, in which she will try to win the heart of Prince Maxon of Illea against 34 other selected girls. In this suspenseful romance novel, America finds herself in a position where she'll have to choose who she loves more; Price Maxon or Aspen, her former love. This is the perfect book to read when you want a private get-a-way right in your heart!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Slow to start, but well worth a read! Sometimes the first book isn't the best in a series, but you need a first book in order to fall in love with the series. It took me a couple chapters to understand where this book was going, but I was not disappointed by the end!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A solid novel I picked this book up because it was so popular and I hadn't read it yet. I liked it! It had the perfect amount of everything: romance, suspense, and twists. Nothing was overdone, and although there is somewhat of a love triangle, it is not forced. The only reason why this is getting four stars and not five is because I felt the caste system needed to be explained way more, and the chapter with the history lesson was way too much information at once. I could hardly follow it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Hunger games meets The Bachelorette I have many gripes about The Selection. Marketed as 'The Hunger Games meets The Bachelorette' The Selection is coasting down the already plowed roads that other hugely successful dystopian novels cleared before it. Set in a world years into the future where the population is broken into castes, the prince of a newly formed America, now named Iilea, must host a Selection to find his new trophy wife. 35 girls between the ages of 16 and 20 are to attend and the prince will slowly or quickly widdle his way through them depending on his mood. Enter America Singer. She's your everyday Joanne Everywoman, plain and ordinary through and through. When America gets the invitation to register for the Selection, she dismisses it entirely. She is 16 years old, she is serious about her boyfriend, and she does not want to leave her family. However, the caste difference between her and her boyfriend Aspen is going to complicate life. She will be marrying down, and Aspen does not want a life of penury for her. He encourages her to register for the selection, not wanting her to miss an opportunity to get ahead in life. For some reason, she gives in to the wishes of both Aspen and her mother who was also on her case about entering the selection. It's no surprise that the underdog gets in. When she meets Maxon, America tells him she has nothing to offer him but friendship and is rather honest with him about her heart being elsewhere despite Aspen showing her the door a few days before her departure to the palace. What she does have to offer is her views on the other girls. The two strike up a rather honest friendship which I feel is one of the books stronger points. However, The Selection has a few things holding it down. Sexism is rampant, especially in the first half of the novel. Aspen has a massive inferiority complex due to his caste and lets it get the best of him. It becomes the driving force behind him breaking up with America and to him pushing her towards the selection. He feels like she's missing out on opportunities in her life, yet stays with her for two years, dating her in secret. Apsen holds firm to the beliefs that it's a man's duty to take care of his wife and when America splurged on dinner for him, he took it as a shot to his masculinity. Also, there's a law in place that forces the female population to stay a virgin until the wedding. If one is caught with their pants down, they're thrown in prison and slide down the social ladder to an 8 and are rendered homeless. It's mentioned that it's a way to control the population yet there's a lot of large families and there doesn't seem to be a choice against having a large family, particularly with the castes below 4. The Selection also panders to other stereotypes of the genre. America is plain and ordinary and heaven forbid if you give her a compliment on her looks. She can't take a compliment to save her life, completely rejecting it and arguing against it. Marlee, The one girl she truly befriends, is the typical 'All America Nice Girl', while Celeste is the resident 'bitch'. The antagonists are a faceless rebellion and the conflict happens outside while the girls are forced into hiding with their pretty dresses. The love triangle is a joke too, tacked on for some drama. There's an interesting concept beneath the drivel and I really didn't hate The Selection as much as I ought too. It's just to loose to hold anything of substance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MUST READ This novel is simply magical. It shows the stress of someone who doesn't want to be involved in a world of luxury. But the love that America and Maxon develop throughout the book is just to die for. It gives hopes that fairy tales can be true. #plumreview

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing! I honestly thought that this book wasn't part of a series, so I was surprised and a little mad when the story wasn't done when I got to the end of the book. Despite that being said, as soon as I finished it, I immediately read it again just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Overall, it is very well written and perfectly combines the premise of both the Hunger Games and Cinderella. If you're a fan of either, I'm confident that you will love this one, though it's romance and there's no killing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good The concept of this book is really interesting but I couldn't stand that stupid love triangle. I hated Aspen with a passion, like could he just shut up and mind his own business. Then there's Prince Maxon whom I grew to like but that doesn't change that he's sorta taking advantage of all these girls and it's pretty screwed up when he uses like one girl for specific purpose which is not to become his wife (though that's in a later book)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Even though I never really liked The Bachelor, the premise of this story seemed interesting to me. I have always loved fairy tale stories, and this book certaintly was a Cinderella story. That being said, I didn't like the book quite as much as I initially thought I would. Some parts were just a little too slow moving for me. That being said, I loved the way it showed that you can find love even when you least expect it. #plumreview

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Bachelor for Teen Girls By the description of this book I was intrigued to say the least. It seemed like it could be interesting. Well I wasn't fully mistaken. The Selection wasn't the worst novel I've ever read but it wasn't the best. World building could have been better, the drama could have been less forced and the entire plot could have less predictable. That being said I liked the characters, except America, they seemed to all bring something different to the table. I'd recommend this to young teen girls to read who dream of the love with a prince.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved it!!!!! I loved this book. I saw a friend reading it a couple years ago and I finally got around to reading it. In this book, you follow America, the main character/protagonist, and her journey into the struggle of deciding to join the selection for her family's sake or be with the boy she loves. It starts off with 35 girls and we see the beginning of how much she struggles with being away from her family and in the castle. Read to find out more...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quasi-dystopian teen version of The Bachelor In short, this is the teen, quasi-dystopian book version of The Bachelor. Mostly fluff, but enjoyable enough that I'll likely read the next one. Not a book I'd suggest for young teens not only because the romance would be over their heads, but also because the sexuality is a little mature for anyone under 15 or 16.
