Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ugh I liked the idea of this book. That is all I liked about it. I hated every female character, except Alexandra (who seems to have magic breasts) and by the end I didn't really care for her either, and I liked all the male characters except the hero, whom I loathed! Even the quasi villain had more honour than the hero! He was an overbearing, pompous, rude, cruel man who mistreated his wife carelessly even when he finally decided he "loved" her! Admittedly, she was involved in the marriage switch that he was not happy about, but he places blame almost solely on her and spends the whole book telling her about how horrible she is and pointing out every one of what he perceives to be her faults. He is also extremely high handed and imperious. the story itself isn't that great either, the villain is sort of thrown in as a side situation with little build up or suspense and then a random climactic scene occurs at the end and you find yourself wondering whether someone just reminded the author near the end of the writing process that novels are supposed to have a plot. All in all, a pile of amateur swill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Captivating Story I have rarely read any book(s) where the characters have been so enjoyable that I would like nothing more than to read more about them. The Sherbrooke Bride is hilarious, romantic, and you can't help but fall in love with the characters. Douglas is a intelligent, stubborn man, who slowly realizes the good fortune that has come his way. Alex is wonderfully refreshing for a female character - she lives up to the heroines that Coulter is famous for writing. This is a novel which will captivate your heart.
