Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ahead of its time of clearly explaining life lessons on diversity and all!!! This is an AMAZING book! The sneetches is about how people try to hard to be 'better' than others by labels etc... and at the end of the day, we are all the same. And the pale green pants is just soooo clever too! It's about diversity and how in the end, what we fear, if we get to know it and understand it... we realise that we're all the same. Two other great stories. Just an amazing collection of very clever stories... A MUST in any children's library!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A clear and easy to understand lesson Such a good lesson in this story. It is so clear and easy to understand. The tongue twister words also keep it interesting. Caring lessons about why inclusion is so important. So applicable to today's world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great story The Sneetches is a book that is really meant for older kids (12+) and even adults. But the younger ones will enjoy the rhymes. Look for the well-made movie. A great book to pull out when your kid wants the clothes everyone else is wearing, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic!! A must for Seuss enthusiasts. The silly Sneetches judge each other based on a singular physical characteristic only to have it exploited by a clever charlatan. Luckily though the learn their lesson. The other stories in this are lots of fun too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Family Favourite I love when my father read this to me as a child and now my children beg me to read it for them. There is so much performance potential in Dr Seuss' prose. I especially like voicing Professor Mcmonkey McBean.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Little wonders 'The Sneetches' is probably my least favourite story in this book. Unfortunately it's also the longest and most fleshed out. The story, as well as other stories in the book, contain life lessons that are meaningful to little children and narrated in the usual loving detailed art work that's known for Dr. Seuss' books. Their composition though feels somewhat disorienting and loses focus as if stories were thrown in together to fill the page counts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Source for Teaching About Tolerance of Diversity "Ronald remember, when you are out walking, you walk past a sneetch of that sort without talking. Keep your snoot in the air and remember to snort. We have no touch whatever with the PLAIN bellied sort!" To have a star on your belly once made you the BETTER sneetch. Then an inventor comes to town who could put stars on the PLAIN-bellied sneetches...for the right price. Now, to seperate them once again, the star-bellies paid a great price to have their stars removed...until one day they realized that it was just plain silly to go on this way: Star or No-star had no true basis in defining who you are. Fantastic lesson in tolerance of diversity!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Valuable Lessons A collection of brilliant stories that all can learn from, regardless of age. Sometimes, we must look at the world through the eyes of a child to really grasp what it's all about. Highly recommended to all.

From Our Editors

Just because they’re different, the Sneetches find that folks treat them in a snooty and funny manner. In the face of such ignorance, the Sneetches must show that they shouldn’t be discriminated against because of their distinct colour and shape. Dr. Seuss’ subtle morality comes through in all shades in The Sneetches and Other Stories, a collection that celebrates being different. Drawn in trademark style, complete with exuberance and abstraction, it teaches kids decent values while entertaining them with great stories.
