about

For the first time, read the entire Soldier Son trilogy as one ebook … at a special price!

In Book One, Shaman's Crossing, Nevare Burvelle was destined from birth to be a soldier. The second son of a newly anointed nobleman, he must endure the rigors of military training at the elite King's Cavella Academy—and survive the hatred, cruelty, and derision of his aristocratic classmates—before joining the King of Gernia's brutal campaign of territorial expansion.

And it continues in the next two novels, Forest Mage and Renegade's Magic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good indeed A, for genre, quite new taking on fantasy set in a time equal to 1600-1800 one can asume. Robin Hobb is phenomenal in writing in the small perspectiv and the characters is very very well developed. Even though this story has a classical "save the world by magic" story the approch on it is unique. Through the tales of many "small" people - that has all the good and bad charcteristics that ordinary humans has, of which many are very unlucky, endure much hardships and have to choose the best of many bad choices - is she telling an epic story with all the classical fantasy element that a reader might want. Put not one but several love stories on top of that as well as the atropolgic dive in to two very differenr cultures that is on collision course. All brilliantly written as well, I migth add. I highly recomend this serie. And even though I liked the liveship serie as well as the dragon keeper serie this i rigth up there with the assassins quest serie! That is a very high praise to come from me...
