Andrew Lang (31 March 1844 – 20 July 1912) is well-known as a collector of British folk and fairy tales, but he was a Victorian poet, novelist, academic and critic too. His poem had success, but he became famous published Andrew Lang's Fairy Books of Many Colors – series of twelve different colored collections of fairy tales books (1889-1910). It includes 437 tales from different countries and different cultures. 
The Strange Adventures of Little Maia (or Thumbelina) is a fairy tale from The Olive Fairy Book published by Andrew Lang in 1907. For a long time one woman lived along and was sad about it. One day a woman had gone into the forest and met a little woman who was a true witch. Witch helped her, and sold out a barley corn that was magical. In a tall red tulip, shorted up from the flower-pot, was a lovely inch high girl. What will happen with such a pretty little one and how will she save herself?  Will she find good friends and true love?
