about

From esteemed author-illustrator Elly MacKay comes a magical fantasy tale about the importance of working as a team and being a good friend.

Mip and Pip are two fairies who live in a beautiful forest near a waterfall. One day, Mip has a brilliant idea to build a tree house and decides to make it into a contest: whoever can build the tallest tree house the fastest wins! Pip, who is much more thoughtful and a planner, reads about architecture and sketches out blueprints while Mip, the speedster, is already halfway done constructing her house. But when a powerful gust of wind threatens Mip's tree house and Pip's safety, the two friends must learn to appreciate each other's talents to save the day-and to build the tallest tree house in the forest.
Elly MacKay is the creator of Butterfly Park, If You Hold a Seed, Shadow Chasers, and Waltz of the Snowflakes. Her artwork is recognized worldwide and sold online. Elly lives by Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada, with her husband and children.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very special book! I read this book to a group of parents, grandparents and children before giving a craft workshop. They loved it. One little girl came forward and said to everyone that the book was about being a good team. It was a wonderful way to start the workshop!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved this book! This book is invaluable to teachers. Before giving a workshop to a group of children, I introduced The Tallest Treehouse. The group enjoyed the main characters , Mip and Pip who have a race to build the tallest treehouse. One little girl shyly told me that the message of the book is teamwork. I loved both the writing and the whimsical illustrations!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slow and Steady Wins the Race Mip and Pip compete to build the tallest tree house. While Mip tries to make the tallest, Pip carefully plans his to be sturdy. This charming picture book is about friendship, competition, planning, cooperation and perseverance. Add a couple of cute fairies and you have another fable that reminds us the fastest is not always the best.
