After her best friend dies in a drowning accident, Suzy is convinced that the true cause of the tragedy must have been a rare jellyfish sting-things don't just happen for no reason. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Liked this a lot! Although this is technically a young adult book; as an adult I still really enjoyed it. If you liked 'the curious case of the dog in the night' then I believe you will enjoy this book too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved this! I had heard about this a while ago, but never actually picked it up. Having been through something tragic in our family as well, I wanted to give this a shot, before having my son read it. I just loved this book. I think he will too! So well written, and loved how it touched on grief, and how she processed it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Melancholy I wanted to see more of Franny's internal conflict. I wanted to see how she was Suzy's best friend, how they were growing apart, and how Franny was part of the group that was bullying Suzy. The book was missing that middle part so Franny went from loving Suzy to completely ignoring her and you didn't see her struggle with it at all. I guess you could argue that it's supposed to reflect how blindsided Suzy was when her friend became a complete stranger, but I think that's a pretty flimsy reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend! Wonderfully nerdy, sweet, heartbreaking, and totally captures the mind of a science-enthused pre-teen going through the difficulty and confusion of suddenly losing someone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A lesson in Friendship Franny told Suzy that if she ever became as shallow as the popular girls to send her a message in a big way. After the two best friends drift apart, Suzy follows through, but never gets a chance to say sorry, before Franny has a fatal accident. This moving story will appeal to girls’ age’s ten to 12 who enjoy coming-of-age fiction and strange facts about jellyfish.
