From the author who's inspired millions worldwide with books like Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven comes his most imaginative novel yet, The Time Keeper--a compelling fable about the first man on Earth to count the hours.

The man who became Father Time.

In Mitch Albom's newest work of fiction, the inventor of the world's first clock is punished for trying to measure God's greatest gift. He is banished to a cave for centuries and forced to listen to the voices of all who come after him seeking more days, more years.

Eventually, with his soul nearly broken, Father Time is granted his freedom, along with a magical hourglass and a mission: a chance to redeem himself by teaching two earthly people the true meaning of time.

He returns to our world--now dominated by the hour-counting he so innocently began--and commences a journey with two unlikely partners: one a teenage girl who is about to give up on life, the other a wealthy old businessman who wants to live forever. To save himself, he must save them both. And stop the world to do so.

Told in Albom's signature spare, evocative prose, this remarkably original tale will inspire readers everywhere to reconsider their own notions of time, how they spend it, and how precious it truly is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Read this! The Time Keeper is a quick and interesting read full of inspiring and insightful quotes (I had to stop reading a few times to jot them down!). Mitch Albom takes you on an interesting journey which makes you sit back and consider how carefully and intentionally you are using the time you have. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compelling and Insightful I had to read this as it was a bookclub choice. I had never read anything by Mitch Albom before, so I had no notions of what to expect before starting this novel. Not only was a pleasently surprised, this book was a little more insightful then I had initially realized from the synopsis. It made me think about my own life, and how precious a minute could be, and how time being counted, can acually mean time is wasting away. The overall tone was sad through out most of it (well that is they way I felt for each of the characters in their own right), but it wasn't so depressing that it made you want to stop reading, rather, it made you want to keep reading to see how each character develops, and how they eventually end up at the end of the story. Well written, and (in my opinion) well thought out and mapped. Definately going to purchase a few more books from Albom as I believe his other novels are at the same standard of writing. I reccomend this to anyone looking for something with substance.
